A Cookie From Chapter 24:
“The Malfoy boy is certainly good-looking and charming; I can see how he might sweep some girls right off their feet, but… I do hope it’s not for the money.” Molly looked at her so sadly that Ginny couldn’t bear it.
“It’s not at all,” she said quickly. “Mum, for the past year, Draco hasn’t even known for sure whether he would be allowed to keep any of their assets. Yes, Harry helped to make sure that he wouldn’t be convicted on criminal charges, but that wasn’t the all of it. He could easily have ended up with nothing but the blood-bound properties like Malfoy Manor, and without the money to keep those up, I don’t know what he would have done. For months, I had no idea if he was going to end up being practically poverty-stricken.”
“Months?” Molly asked softly.
Ginny groaned inwardly. “Er… yes.”
How many months?”
“Six,” Ginny mumbled.
“The two of you have been… together… that long, and you’ve never said a word about it?”
“Um…” How could she possibly explain this, Ginny wondered. She herself didn’t know what it meant for them to be together. She’d never known how serious they were, and she still didn’t know.
