Wow. It's a sensible, compelling and sad stoty. But I can't think it in another way. I agree your opinion of rape fanfics. I don't believe a girl will love the person rape her without a disturbing transition, especially if this person doesn't have any regret. A special story, thank you!

Author's Response: Thanks! Wow, I didn't know anybody was still reading this. I actually planned a slightly different revised version... just kind of never got around to writing it, but who knows, maybe I will at some point. ;)

How have I not read this fic before? It seems impossible that I didn't read this before today...

Author's Response: I don't know. :) But, there you go.

Alright, so I finished reading this a few days ago, and it's taken me until now to review because had I reviewed as soon as I'd finished reading it, I'm fairly certain I wouldn't have said anything coherent.

This was, by far, the most horrible, hearbreaking, appalling, depressing, obscene stories I've ever read. I still don't know whether I love it to death or hate it beyond reason. But whichever it is, I know this story is going to stick with me for a long, long time. It was too tragic not to.

Actually, it reminded me a very good deal of those ancient Greek tragedies, where the subject matter of this story probably wouldn't have been as shocking, because that's just the way they are (with the exception of the epilogue/chapter 10, of course).

But I really can't get over it. There was some perfectly appalling quality to this story that makes it hard for it to like. The tragedy was so absurdly tragic that part of me almost wants to mock it for being so unlikely. But the thing is, I can't. I can't, because it was too tragically beautiful, too romantic to be mocked. I don't think I can fully express what I mean by beauty and romance, because this was not, in any way at all, a beautiful or romantic story. But the thing is, all good tragedy is beautiful and romantic. That's just the way it is. So I suppose what I'm saying is that you did an incredible job at writing the most horrifying, depressing tragedy I've ever read, but I can't decide whether or not that means I like it.

I know for certain that I won't read it again soon, but read it again I may, because hopefully it won't hurt so much the second time.

This was honestly, truly amazing. I just wish I hadn't made the mistake of reading it directly before bed.

Author's Response: Wow, I never read this review until now... wow. What a review it is! Yes, this is a disturbing fic, and I honestly don't think that I knew how disturbing it really was at the time that I wrote it. Out of all the Dracos I have ever written, this really is the most unredeemable one (is that even a word? Well, it is now.) Even the QatD's Draco, as unspeakably creepy and not-quite-sane as he is, isn't as bad as this one. So I think that given what this Draco did, this is the only kind of ending that this fic could have really had. He could not be forgiven, and as often happens, someone else had to pay the price for his crimes. But then, for the rest of life, he paid that price too. The only part that is beautiful is that he realized just how profoundly he loved her, and she him. Anyway, it's the most depressing ending I've ever written. It's all uphill from here! :)

Not everything ends happily, so I like that this story of yours shows that. It was different from what I've read of your work. Darker. I loved it. You are a great writer. I have to admit, I'm a bit jealous! And I'm glad to see you finished at least one fic. All these half finished ones...*sighs* I get into them, and then there is no more. It breaks my heart, Anise. Please don't break my heart!

I have actually been waiting for a few days to review this, so I can get it right.

I am a bit curious to know why Ron killed Ginny, or exactly how that even happened. And the next chapter, that was some deep stuff in there, it took a few re-reads to get it.

Good job at a Dramatic fic.

Good story, but I have a question: why are all your stories (okay not all, but the ones I've read - like 5 I think) have something to do with the Gods, per se. Do you read a lot on the subject?

The first thing that comes to my mind is : you are a genius.
First because the fiction itself is very marvellous. The feelings, the thoughts of the characters are described in a wonderful, compelling way.
Second because the last chapter is pure genius. I don't know why, but it just seems right, to see Loki and Dream here, plotting with Draco's and Ginevra's lives. Reading your chapter just made come into my mind Dream, saying "Very Well, Loki. Let us talk..." and made me imagine Dream's planning.
You are a very talented writer. You can play with your characters and their emotions, with different scenarios and different stories to create something very intense. I really, really loved it.

Omg. You didn't confuse me more cuz now I see why there are so many AU's in your stories, but that all of them end badly? That's freakin' depressing!

Well, thank goodness Ginny reacted in horror. I hate fics where Ginny just takes it and hides it. Those suck.

Anise, you are a genius. I had to read your field guide, but I finally somewhat get it.

What I would give to have a slim part of creativity like you do. By god write some real books, get published, do this world some good by confusing them.

You're amazing. This story was amazing. All of your stuff is amazing.

I'm extremely surprised that I haven't read this fic already, and I'm even more surprised as to why this isn't considered a D/G classic. I guess its because it is a lot darker than most people like, but I have to say, this fic really set a new bar for all the fics I read.

I read this all in one go, and that's really the best way to read this fic in my opinion. Through out the conversations at St.Mungo's, I could feel the secluded, quiet, sensual world that D/G were absorbed in. I really can't describe it in words, but I felt this odd omniscient power where I was gazing into a world where only Draco and Ginny existed. I felt all this before the last chapter. So artful talent or mere coincidence? I've read some of your other fics, and I choose the former.

The ending was definitely unique, but for some reason, it just worked. I can't imagine an alternate ending now. The sad, ironic quality was just perfect, and it integrated well with the little, hinting quotes in earlier chapters.

Absolutely gorgeous prose and characterization. Thank you for the thrilling and thought-provoking experience.

When does it work????!! What world do Ginny and Draco finally work in? Are you still waiting to write it? Are you hoping for canon? Pleeaaassee let me know your thoughts on this; I'm really curious.

I'm really surprised that I haven't read this before; I thought I'd read all of your stuff! It could be that I wasn't able to get through the rape scene. But this time I did, and I'm interested in the fic.

See, usually your Dracos always "draw the line" at rape. Like, he'll kill people and sometimes even torture them and commit crimes, but he won't do that. So it's interesting that you made that change, here. And I like the way you've been having Draco deny what he did--insisting to himself that Ginny enjoyed it, though of course the reader knows that her orgasms just traumatized her even further. Denial seems like the only way Draco *would* be able to deal with what he'd done.

I'm curious to see where this goes next, and I'm glad it's already completed! I'm particularly interested in Sirius' role. I always liked the Ginny-Sirius dynamic you created in HC.

One note, though--you can, actually, use a Portkey to enter or leave Hogwarts. Remember that the end of GoF began with a Portkey from Hogwarts grounds. Also, at the end of OoTP, Dumbledore creates a Portkey that sends Harry back to DD's office, I think. So Draco's use here doesn't even need to be explained away!

It hurt as I was reading this, it hurt inside. It was a numb kind of pain. I'm not sure how to explain it but your fan fic was really good. You're works are very interesting to read.

No! Draco and Ginny are supposed to be together! It's just supposed to happen! And where is that alternate ending? (Sorry it took so long to comment - just found the story!)
