Lovely suspense thriller, as all of the chapters have been. I didn't quite picture Draco as a Rick walking off arm-in-arm with Blaise's Captain Reynaud to join La Resistance, so I will wait ... on tenterhooks? with baited breath? to exhale?

Author's Response: Yes, I see your point. Glad you are enjoying this, despite its lack of Casablanca appeal for you. Appreciate you stopping by, Phae, and thanks for your review. -fallenwitch

Did you have to make it in such a way that he can never have her? That is heart-wrenching. This chapter was really well-written, but so sad. There's no happy ending for Draco is there?

Author's Response: I know. *hangs head in pseudo-shame* My lips are sealed on the ending, but Draco certainly deserves a bit of happiness, doesn't he? -fallenwitch

PS--I KNEW there was more to the Ginny/Christo story! Though I don't know if I buy this "we're well-suited" bit.

Lastly-- the line "Is there anything about you that isn't a lie?" may be my favorite from the whole chapter, though Draco's internal snarkiness is highly entertaining. As another reviewer has said, the tone of this fic is so very Malfoy.

Author's Response: Oh, I liked that line too. And you're right, there's always more to everything. -fallenwitch

So, now the question is really whether Ginny plans to kill Chervenko or not. I didn't really like how Draco treated her in the middle there, but I think it's realistic; even if I'd like him to be perfect, he isn't.

Author's Response: What! Ginny kill Christo? Never! Or would she? Hmmm....something to think about, I guess. Thanks for your review! -fallenwitch

Ack! I love you! You just keep throwing one twist after another at us...and Ginny is such a baffling, mysterious character, isn't she? But I love the way you're slowly revealing her to us, and fixing our misconceptions one by one (the ones we get through Draco's eyes).

So...christ. Christo. So she loves Draco? Is this the idea? How can you stand to put that boy through so much trauma? And now you've stuck them in an impossible situation...tsk tsk tsk. How could you?!

Is Draco right? Has Christo just sort of been manipulating the two of them all along, so that he could 'have' Ginny to himself?

Btw, Draco was so beautiful in this chapter. His heartbreak when Ginny's lying to him, that kiss, his fury when he realizes the truth (is it even the truth?), his defeatist collapse against the bookshelf...you write it all so beautifully, and realistically, and I truly feel what he feels. It's lovely.

Ginny's a bit of a femme fatale, isn't she? Except less selfish. Or is she selfish? As Draco has forgotten, we don't know whether we can trust her or not.

God I love this fic.

Author's Response: Yes, Ginny is baffling but less so as this fic rolls on, I think. As for Draco, I made him Slytherin tough so he can take it! *cringes* It was wonderful to hear that you found him and his emotional stew realistic and appealing in this one. I wasn't sure how that would come across. Again, thanks so much for your thoughtful and insightful review. I just loved it - as usual! -fallenwitch

This is a great chapter. Thank you for it!

You've revealed just enough of what's going on to keep us all on the edge of our chairs. Just how is this going to turn out? It's nice to read a story that's not predictable!

Author's Response: No, thank you, Marcia. If not for you, who knows what this chapter would have turned out like! -fallenwitch

Wowzers. Thank you, THANK YOU for letting Draco go off the deep end a little bit. The idea that he would just take anything that Ginny had to say in stride is ridiculous and I'm glad you nipped that in the bud.

I was very happy to say I was surprised at Ginny's 'Saving The World Thing' that she seems to have borrowed from Harry. I think it adds a nice dimension to her character, though.

Great job!

Author's Response: You're welcome. Draco had to do it. And Ginny had it coming to her IMO. Thanks for reading and the great review, Bosco! -fallenwitch

I love, love, love this story! - heroic Ginny, tormented Draco, what's not to love? It reminds me so much of Casablanca. And it is such an emotional rollercoaster.

Aha! Some answers! Not that they are answers I like to hear. But at least now we know what has been going on with Ginny. I hope that you have some plan to resolve this because otherwise I might die of a broken heart right along with poor Draco. Well, maybe not. But I won't be too happy anyway. Thanks for the update. I am definitely looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Author's Response: Hi Embellished, don't worry. I do have a plan for resolution, although it might not be the resolution that everyone wants. Thanks so much for stopping by! I appreciate it. -fallenwitch

Ok, this is by far, by far, the BEST chapter of the whole story. So many threads are brought together and tied off neatly. Your tense image of Draco slamming the bookcase by Ginny's head is breathtaking. I can feel his anger ad frustration. The dialogue is tight with anger. I could just slap Ginny, but really, what choice did she have? Would you stay with someone out of love if they were doing something you believed as evil? Would you have stayed with Ted Bundy? Basically the same situation, even though we don't see Draco as being basically evil, he does nothing to bring down the present order. I just love Draco pointing out that Christo had time to take over a country, couldn't he have least stop over at the Save'a Buck and picked out a ring?
You have painted yourself into quite a corner, my dear friend. But I do believe your talent has bloomed, come to the surface like a rising volcano, and you will finish up the heartbreaking tale with a bang.
Love!

I have to say that Draco is quite the medical miracle, what with the amount of times his heart has been battered, bruised or beaten “into submission.” And oh, the drama in this chapter was just incredible. But underneath all that melancholy you manage to throw in humorous one liners (my personal favourite being “but it was much too lovely an arse to let die, regardless of its political and emotional affiliations”). I also love Ginny’s loyalty to Christo – it would be so easy for you as a writer to disregard her marriage at this point in the story and make Draco and Ginny get together but I don’t think Ginny is like that. You’ve subtly emphasised her Gryffindor traits of loyalty and bravery which some writers ignore and as a result overdo the Slytherin like tendencies in her. In short you have woven a story which is not only rich and textured but also has characterisations very true to their canon counterparts. Simply amazing and I can’t wait for the next update :D!

Author's Response: Thank you for another thoughtful, insightful review, azadi. I especially appreciated your comments about the underlying humour. It's a relief to know that someone out there is seeing a bit of it as this fic as taken a turn, heading head on into darker, angst-ridden territory. I realize this was not what everyone signed up for when they started reading this fic so that is the only consolation I have to pass out at the moment. Again, thanks for your review. -fallenwitch

God damn!! Talk about unrequited love. I actually like the way the story is panning out, happily ever afters are sometimes a bit mundane, I like the 'doomed for eternity' outlook, it's more interesting. Update soon.

Himmm... really curious to see just how this one progresses...
