I thought this was very well done - I'm holding out hope that Draco is going to turn good in the seventh book but I bet JK Rowling has evil plans for him :(

Author's Response: I'm with you- this story was my personal firewall against JKR's dislike of Draco; this way, if she offs him, I still have a happy, canon-esque version of Draco.

Oh, that was precious.
*wistful sigh*
Made me feel all "aww" and tingly inside.
However, I really wanted Draco to start crying when he saw his mum, and run towards her, and hold her dearly.
You know, as he tried to hold back tears, but failed, and tears poured from his eyes into her robes/hair. He's probably taller than her, all things considered.

Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed the story. I left the description of Draco's reunion with his mum decidely brief, so may imagine it any way you choose (and I think you're probably correct about him being taller than Narcissa by now).

Awwwww...*wipes eyes*

Author's Response: *hands you a tissue* Don't cry! It's a happy ending!

I have to say that was possibly the cutest thing I've ever read. The message was clear and sweet, not to mention that I have the sudden urge to clap and yell "barvo!"

Author's Response: Cute and vaguely canon- I'll take it!

Great story, great writing. Loved your story.

Author's Response: Thank you for the lovely compliment!

~I just love it. So Perfect.~

Author's Response: Thanks! This is one of my favorite fics I've done, so I'm really glad you think it was well done. :D

I like how sensitive Draco is in this story; it's not a side many authors usually choose to show. Thanks!

Author's Response: Well, if the boy can cry in Half-Blood Prince, I can make him vaguely emo at Christmas. :) Glad you liked it!

BEAUTIFUL

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Happy Christmas!

i think that this would make a very good story...like longer than a long shot! i like it a lot=]

Author's Response: I'm really happy you liked this enough to suggest an extended version... but I'm already bad enough about updating my two chaptered fics, Downfall and Diversionary Tactics. Alas, it's doomed to be a one-shot. :)

How beautiful and creative! It was very clever how you got Draco to Number 12... what with Dumbledore as the Secret Keeper being dead and no one else being able to reveal its location. In all it was a very touching story, and quite festive... a good read. Thanks! :)

Author's Response: Happy to hear that you enjoyed it! You hit a major sticking point in your review- I spent ages trying to work out how to actually get Draco into Number 12 while respecting HBP canon. I'm rather proud of the finished product.

Two words: LOVE IT. Very different from other D/G Christmas stories out there. I love that this is a simple story of Draco finding his way with a little help from Dumbledore and Ginny, and even better it is at Christmas time. It was perfect I think in tone and content. And the spontaneous kiss was delightful. A very refreshing change from the tend-to-be-smut-heavy D/G holiday fics. I think this one will be a classic!

Author's Response: *huggles you* Thanks, sweetie! I'd been trying for awhile to get a HBP-compliant Christmas fic going. Once I managed to get Draco to No. 12, the rest sort of wrote itself. I wanted something quiet and real, more in line with how Draco would react and grow after the events of HBP. A classic? *blushes* I wish- but it was sweet of you to say!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw!
That was beautiful. Just the thing I needed when I'm feeling wrung out from organising Carols by Candlelight!
As always, you are truly an excellent author.

May your life turn out to be more that you thought it would.

Author's Response: *smiles* I loved that line- I thought it was sweet and somehow very Dumbledore-ish. I'm glad the fic was the respite you needed from stress. It's rather ironic that we run ourselves into the ground at a time of year that's supposed to be happy. I hope you're feeling better!

Awww This was cute! Great job! Just the shot of Christmas cheer I was looking for! :)

Author's Response: Christmas cheer rocks. I'm feeling rather festive myself. :)

This will have to be the best Christmas fic I've ever read!

Author's Response: That's so sweet of you! *hugs*

Oh wow, amaaazing. This is the most wonderful idea I've read concerning Draco's flight after the fall of Dumbledore! I could so see Dumbledore doing something like that. I am so excited to have read this. Is this a one shot or a series? Either way, I look forward to reading more of your work! Fantastic job, keep writing, PLEASE!

Author's Response: Happy to hear that you enjoyed it so much! It is only a one-shot, as I'm very bad about updating my chaptered fics. :P I thought a lot about Dumbledore's "voice" in this fic, and I'm so glad to hear that it rang true with you. As for the "keep on writing"- don't worry, I've got way too many plot bunnies to stop any time soon.

*shakes sap off* ...it's everywhere...

But it is the good type of sap!! It really got me in the mood for Christmas AND made me want to run out to my boyfriend for a hug.

Author's Response: Sappy, indeed! *smiles* Okay, maybe it was just a teeny, tiny bit sappy. Or a lot sappy. Wanting to go hug your boyfriend and looking forward to Christmas is exactly what I wanted this fic to do- resonate with you. Happy Christmas!

Oh, that was so sweet. I actually felt sorry for Draco. Your portrayal of him as young and naive really came through. I wondered what his gift would be. Getting his family back was more than I expected. Good job.

Author's Response: Thank you! I have a tendency to write fanon!Draco- witty, urbane and more mature than he actually is. This story was my attempt to write the Draco that may emerge after the events of HBP. I didn't actually mean to give him Narcissa for Christmas originally, but as I wrote the story, it seemed to be a more fitting ending. PS- I can't wait for the next installment of "The Dangers of Mistletoe"!

I loved it!!! What a great Christmasy oneshot ^_^

and i totally think Dumbledore would do something like that, AWESOME addition =P

and i love Ginny's little lesson at the end, about blessings. that was just beautiful =)

thankyou!!!

Author's Response: A little Christmas fluff for D/G'ers is a good present, I think. :)

I really, really liked this story. I think it shows the Chrismahauniqwanzika Spirit in a lovely subtle way.

Maybe JKR will see and and think second thoughts about the nasty things she'd do to Draco.

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm pretty sure JKR is going to torture our beloved Draco in Book Seven- which is why FIA is here- to give him love instead! Plbbt. Who needs canon, anyway? :)
Name: Analucia Malfoy reviewed Chapter 1 on Dec 15, 2006 08:54 am
I loved it. The voices of the characters were spot on. You made so many dramatic moments come alive. I truly felt his sorrow, when Draco was alone in the basement, remembering Christmases past. Snape was particularly amusing then. And the moment Draco realizes that there is no gift for him under the tree, only to learn that his mother will be there with him is perfect. I got teary and I rarely do. I could go on but I'll refrain and simply offer my thanks for a wonderful Christmas story.

Author's Response: I'm so happy you enjoyed this- the only sticking point was Dumbledore's voice and the gimmick to get Draco into No. 12. The "no gift under the tree" thing was one of my favorite scenes- it felt like kicking him while he was down, because he was so wary about joining the Weasleys in the first place, and then he's rewarded with his mother. Two reviews now about teary? I guess I did a good job. :) Thank you for such a thoughtful review, and happy Christmas!

This was excellent. The characters seemed very in character, the plot was good, the storyline made sense. Probably one of the better-put-together stories on this website.

Author's Response: What a lovely thing to say- thank you!

This lovely little story was my bedtime treat last night and brought tears to my eyes in several places. It had a very authentic HP voice. Most fanfic writers do not achieve that. So it was delightful. Thank you!

Author's Response: Tears? Hopefully the good kind. What an amazingly lovely thing to say, about the voice- that may be the best compliment I've ever had on my writing, so thank you, Marcia, and happy Christmas!
