I commend your perception. It is rather true and for some of these I want to explain why. There are reasons why these cliches exist.
1. Draco confessing his love, it has to be Draco confessing his love first. It is more traditionally accepted for women to express feelings of love first. Ginny is often confused over Draco and Draco is usually displayed as being raised in either a) abusive family, or b) a non-demonstrative family. It logically follows that Draco has to be the one to make the first major step.
a. Admiting love in a fit of rage is Draco being frustrated that Ginny does't seem to feel the same way, it actually happens in real life, it might not always happen in the great hall.
b. In the middle of intercourse there is a chemical reaction. Draco is as susectible as anyone else. It also happens during the post-coital snuggle/er, whatever Draco and Ginny do.
c. People need a stabilizing force in their life; "no man is an island." After an earth0shattering event, it is most imortant to tell the ones you love that you love them. It is cliche, but it is a true to life cliche. It's unfortunate that it is over0used or made trite.
2. This is the cliche that bothers me most. I won't explain it too much, just let it be known that Slytherin is not the house of cunning, it is the house of ambition! Gryffindors are qualified to be in another house but they made the choice to value courage, not ambition.
3. You explained this one, but still it does not necessarily always happen. The books just focus on Harry and as we all know, Harry does not focus on Ginny, that doesn't mean that Ginny isn't a part of them.
4. No arguments. None whatsoever.
5. This is awkward. Who wants to write Ginny as having had sex before? She is Harry's ideal (don't bite me, J.K. Rowling says that.) Harry's ideal is somewhat pure. To portray Ginny as experienced sometimes makes her love for Draco cheap. (This is a phenomenon that occurs in romance stories. The heroine is often a virgin or very inexperienced.)
6. This happens because people want to make Draco accessible as a person and a character. It would be hard for us to like him if he truly believed everything that he was taught. Hiding behind a mask is romanticized to an unhealthy extent.
7. This sometimes happens in life. As a cliche, it seems to make sense because people usually don't pursue someone they do not find attractive. Draco is the antithesis of Harry, which means that Ginny is the antithesis of Draco's ideal girl. Why else should he pursue her?
8. This usually makes for a more interesting story. If he doesn't have the death mark, all her prejuidices are unfounded, if he does he waits for her to care before showing her so she doesn't condemn him. If you have something socially and morally reprehensible, you would be cautious to let someone else see it.
9. I don't think I have to explain this one either.
10. Bill and Charlie are the two brothers that did not go to school with Draco. It would make sense that they are the ones to first accept him in a relationship with Ginny because they did not know how he acted in school.
I am sorry if I cover things that you already know. I just wanted to analyzed the situations and the reasoning behind the cliches. I am glad someone else saw this and posted something about it.

hehe I'm sure you've already seen it, but you might want to check out Mynuet's "Cliche Fic of Doom": http://www.dracoandginny.com/viewstory.php?sid=2771&warning=2

I enjoyed your list -- and I'm probably guilty of quite a few of these, squee-rific though they might be. hehe :) Goooo, D&G!

LOL God the Cliches are ENDLESS - I myself am guilty of perpetrating several...

Although, further to your comment about Draco being Ginny's first, I refer you to a number of fics in which Harry was Ginny's first, or various other chars (with Dean Thomas, Neville Longbottom and Colin Creevey being particularly popular).

I did try to avoid many cliches with 'The Vault Incident', I sort of 'bypassed' the common ones by not mentioning certain facts.

Also from my own list of works, Pandora's Paradox has a decidedly UNVIRGINAL Ginny becoming tangled with a cliche-ridden reformed Draco. lol

As a further addition to said Cliche list, can I add one regarding Pregnancy - I am terribly guilty for this, but you'll find that many many many authors use a pregnancy as a predominant point in their stories and indeed perpetuate this cliche in its many forms:
- Ginny tells Draco she's pregnant and he switches sides.
- Her announcement prompts the ILY.
- Tension within the story is revealed as a hidden pregnancy.
- Ginny hides her pregnancy from everyone then she and Draco get to together at the end...
The list is ENDLESS. Although for sheer fluffiness, next to nothing beats a baby! lol XD

As for the rest of them, I'm cliche QUEEN! LOL. It's hard NOT to spot a cliche in Exquisite Irony! LOL

lmao, I love this. and it's all so, so true. A few are unavoidable, particularly 3, 4, and 6 (because he changed during HBP, so that's kind of canon). And the way you phrased #8 just cracked me up "She usually gasps, cries, hugs him, and all that rot. However, sometimes, in Fics set at a later year, Draco does have the dark mark. In situations like these, he has reformed and when he shows it to Ginny she usually gasps, cries, hugs him, and traces it." --made me think of more than a few fics I know with both of those (insanely similar) situations.

very nice =D
