Reviews For In My Life

wonderful! you wrote the whole scene so well, it's like i'm watching a movie in my mind. i'm picturing scorpius to be an entertaining (dramatic entrance), funny (justine-speak), genial version of draco despite his school rivalry with albus whom i'm blaming for it, if he's more obstinate than harry. but i'm glad albus came around, and his offer to give ginny away is just the right touch (heart, heart!). now i'm off to search yahoo for a ginger biscuit recipe... your description is such that i can almost taste it.

you're brilliant as usual, but... only one short chapter left!!! make it a long one pleeaassee. thank you.

Author's Response: Thanks you! Scorpius took on a life of his own in this story--he refused to be the person I had in mind. I'm glad he turned out so well! By the way, there's a really excellent recipe for Molasses cookies at the end of my story "Baking Lessons"--they've got ginger in them in addition to the molasses, and I highly recommend them!

aw! albus has grown up finally! haha. great chapter!

Author's Response: Yes, Albus finally got his priorities straight. :) Thanks for the comments!

When I started to read this story I thaught: What? Old Draco and Ginny? No, thanks. But I read a few lines and realised that it was well written, at least. So, afterwards, when I was, as always, looking for new good stories, with a good and interesting plot and good writing and I couldn't find any, I remembered this one and come back to it.
Good thing I did. It is great. For me (and I give emphasis to the "for me") the most important things in good stories are consistent characters, good plots and good writing. Congratulations!

Author's Response: I'm glad that you came back to the story too! It certainly isn't for everyone, but I'm glad you found all of the things you look for in good writing here. I work hard to make my stories as believable as possible, and it is really encouraging to hear that I am on the right track. Thanks for reading and for the review!

Awww, Albus! I'm impressed Ginny kept from crying for as long as she did. I don't think I would have been able to. The party was lovely! I'm looking forward to "The Big Day." :o)

Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed the party! I think Ginny was a little too surprised to cry at first, if that makes any sense. But you knew it had to happen eventually! :) Thanks for the review!

What a tear-jerker *sniffles* The final scene with Albus was just wonderful. I'm so glad he finally realized what a prat he was being *g*

Author's Response: Albus's really is a good guy down deep--he gets too caught up in things sometimes. He has lots of family to help keep him on the right path though! Thanks for the review!

I hope Albus isn't going to be as stubborn as I was when I was in his position. I think you wrote their dialogue masterfully. I felt a lot a realism when I was reading it and winced at some of the things Albus said because honestly they could have easily came from my mouth almost ten years ago. Great chapter and great writing.

Author's Response: Well, there are only going to be two more chapters. I'll let you draw your own conclusions about how stubborn Albus is going to be! :) I'm really happy that you think his reaction and words were realistic--that is very encouraging! Thanks so much for your review!

lol!! The wedding planning part was absolutely perfect!! That's so the way I would do it. Just give me a pretty backyard and a groom I love who says “I do” in the right places. Hahaha! I guess it's pretty sad when you're jealous of fictional characters, isn't it... ;o) Oh well, I don’t mind. Are you going to be taking us through the wedding then?? I hope so; I’m really looking forward to seeing how it goes. Hopefully Albus doesn’t cause too much trouble… Speaking of, the argument with Albus was articulated very well. It wasn’t overly dramatic or underplayed (which a lot of people do with written arguments). Well, thanks for another great chapter; I look forward to your next installment!! :o)

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad that you are enjoying the story still. I'm afraid I didn't plan my wedding that way, but if I ever get married again, I'll do it that way. :) Yes, the story will end (after two more chapters) with Draco and Ginny's wedding. Thanks especially for your comments about the confrontation between Ginny and Albus--it's nice to know that I managed to strike the right balance. Thanks for reading and for the review!

Albus is being a snot.

Author's Response: Yes, yes he is. But he's a worrier, so at least it's not a surprise! Thanks for the comment!

I do hope Charlie and George are able to talk some sense into Albus. He should know his mother wouldn't care what anyone else thought if she was happy with her decision.

Author's Response: Albus _should_ know that, but that doesn't mean that he does! Unfortunately, he is a bit too caught up in things to realize that. Yet. :) Thanks for the comments!

Aw, I'm sorry there's no Ron, but I'm glad george is so happy sounding. Charlie must be ancient :D I guess Harry and Ron are together in the wizarding otherrealm or something :)

Author's Response: I would guess that Charlie is around 100 years old in this story, maybe a little more, so yes, he is old! I'm sorry I couldn't have Ron around for you, but can't imagine either Ron or Hermione outliving Harry for very long. Hopefully Albus will be an acceptable trouble-making substitute. :) Thanks for the review!

Poor Draco, he just really had no idea what he was getting into when he agreed to marry Ginny did he? He forgot she comes with a gigantic family to deal with...

I'm glad things went mostly okay for Draco, especially with her brothers. Charlie is right though, Draco knows Gin better in a few weeks time than Harry ever did in all the years the were together.

Why do I see Justine and Albus being trouble in the very near future? Is it wrong of me to want Justine to drop dead so Draco and Ginny can retire to the manor and live the rest of their lives with loving family and resorting it to its former glory?

Author's Response: Draco didn't quite think everything through before he proposed to Ginny, but she didn't really give him much of a chance, did she? Yes, there will be some trouble in the future. It would be a boring story without it! But I'm afraid the Manor is out of the question. Even if Justine were to drop dead, it would still be under Julius's control and not Draco's. Thanks for the review!

this is lovely darling.

but you do realise that fleur would be say 100+ and charlie is probably older than that....

but well done.
xxx

Author's Response: Actually, Fleur is four years older than Ginny, so she would be 97. (In GoF, Fleur was a seventh year and Ginny was in her third year.) That puts Charlie right around 100. But wizards can live longer (Dumbledore was over 150), so it isn't really that much of a stretch, I hope. I'm glad that you are enjoying the story. Thanks for the review!

uh oh. albus that child isn't happy is he? uh oh. well who cares, he's just her son and some such rot right? haha. update soon!

Author's Response: You're right that Albus isn't happy--you'll get to see more in the next chapter! Thanks for the review!

Oh crap. Albus is going to spaz isn't he? But wonderful job!!!! I'm really looking forward to the next chapter!

Author's Response: Yeah, Albus isn't too happy at the moment. :) Thanks so much for the review!

Ahhh, Albus!!! Noooo!!! I can only imagine what he's going to say...

Well, I can't actually. Which is why I wait patiently for the next chapter : )

Author's Response:

Well, I will try to get the next chapter out soon, so you won't have to be in suspense for too long! Thanks for reading and for the review!

lol! I loved the interaction between Draco, Charlie, and George! I could picture it so easily. And this business with Albus... I'm curious to see how he's going to handle the big news. Something tells me he isnt' going to take it well... lol!

Such a fun story! I'm really enjoying it. :o)

Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed the scene with Charlie and George--it was one of my favorites to write. Your instincts about Albus are good--he's not going to be very happy. But I won't say anything more so I don't spoil the next chapter. Thanks for the review!
Name: dragonsangel68 reviewed Chapter 8 on Jan 22, 2008 02:39 pm
George and Charlie's little attempt at brotherly force was so funny! It's a good thing Draco understands Ginny *giggles* Albus appearing not far from the table has me worried. Is he going to crush Ginny's happiness? I do hope not *crosses fingers* Brilliant as usual :)

Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed George and Charlie's scene. I had a blast writing that! Albus _should_ have you worried--he's not going to make things easy for Ginny. But you know me--a sad ending isn't likely, so you don't have to worry too horribly much! Thanks for the review!
Name: tinamarie reviewed Chapter 8 on Jan 22, 2008 02:10 pm
I imagine the next chapter is going to be an emotional roller coaster for Gin. On one hand she wants to be happy and deserves to be happy. On the other hand she is going to feel sadness and frustration with having to deal with Albus. I can empathize on both sides...I too was at one time an angry child of a mother who was ready to move on. Now though I am the child happy that her mother has moved on and found someone she could love.

Author's Response: Maybe you don't have to read the next chapter--it seems you have already lived it! You're right that Ginny is going to have some trouble dealing with what is to come. Hopefully it will still seem realistic to you. Thanks very much for your insightful comments!

Ninety three? How old to wizards live to be?
Hopefully it's a long time so you can continue this fic.

Author's Response: Well, Dumbledore was a hundred and fifty... But really, this story only has a few chapters left. Hopefully after that, Draco and Ginny will be living a blissfully boring life! Thanks for the review!
Name: Crrritina913 reviewed Chapter 8 on Jan 22, 2008 01:16 pm

*Laughs giddily*. Talk about dramatic. Those declarations of love between Draco and Ginny seemed rather rushed. But a few lines after that, I came to forget about that point and enjoy reading about the very teen-aged behaviour of Draco and Ginny.
Ginny's 'hint' of a proposal was a nice touch. Rather bold of her, but she was always a forthright Gryffindor, was she not? Hehe, it's amusing to sit back and remember that these are a couple nearing their 100's rather than one in their twenties. Thanks for writing such an original story; it's been very fun to read.

The next chapter should be interesting; will the rest of the Potters find out about the impending marriage? And where will the couple move to when married, for I doubt they'd want to stay at the Home for the rest of their lives, not considering their circumstances now.

Author's Response:

You're right that things happened fast for Draco and Ginny, but they really are at the point in their lives where there is no reason to put things like that off--they're smarter about it than young people are, but it effects them just as much. There really isn't time to waste for any of us.

You're right that in the next chapter you will start to see how their families react--and Ginny's family will be the most interesting! I'm glad that you are still enjoying the story. Thanks, as always, for the thoughtful review!

hi !!
i love the way you write and this story ... but its still hard for me to imagine draco and ginny as old people.

Author's Response: I don't think you're the only one who has trouble with that! It's a little odd for me to write it, too, but I try to think about what I hope for myself when I'm older, and that helps a lot. I'm glad you are enjoying the story otherwise, and hope you'll keep with it! Thanks for the review!

Well, I'm very glad they got things sorted out. Draco is such a petulant little child. I guess he never out grew that. It's a good thing Ginny is a strong woman because a lesser woman would have given up on him. I think it's adorable that she asked him to ask her to marry him. I *loved* that. And she does have a point: they aren't getting any younger.

I can't wait to see the family's reaction at the wedding. That should be a hoot!

Author's Response:

Yes, Draco can be petulant, but now he has Ginny to sort him out. I'm glad that you liked those things! I do too. You'll get to see some of the families' reactions in the next chapter, so you shouldn't have to wait too long. Thanks for the review!
