Great chapter! i had been checking for updates and somehow missed this.... isn't it about time for a new chapter though ? ;)

Author's Response: Thanks for the comment. I would've updated, but I was a little busy giving birth last week. ;)

I really liked the conversation in which Ginny told Draco about what Lucius had done to her. Draco's reactions were perfectly subtle. But now you have me worried about what Lucius has up his sleeve too! Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Thanks for the update, and I'm looking forward to the next one!

Author's Response: Unfortunately, some of the things in the story are going to seem like dead ends, since I don't really go into detail afterward. Lucius is one of those things. :(

haha, the draco and ginny in this story makes me smile. great job!

Author's Response: Thanks so much. I really like the versions of them that are in this story, and it was great fun to write. I'm glad that comes across. :)

I wounder what old Lucius has up his sleeve? I can see him sitting in his study with his evil laugh at how his plan is going to work. Great chapter. I hope to see Pansy more sober as the time goes on. Hope Millie can make Perce more easy going. Happy writing. :)

Author's Response: lol. A lot of what I started hinting at in the story didn't actually get fleshed out as much as I thought it would over the course of the story. Hopefully that doesn't make it too disappointing once we hit the end.

Lovely, as usual. I really like the interaction between the characters and I'm entertained by Percy and Millie. What a pair. I like the glimpses we get into Pansy behind the alcohol, I find her fascinating. Keep it up!

Author's Response: The thing I discovered while writing this was how many characters I really wanted to explore in this 'verse. But given that I would've then rambled on *forever,* I had to narrow the focus to those that Ginny was really close to, as she is the main character of the piece. But I really liked the idea of this Percy and Millie together, and how they would've gotten along. :)

I totally love this plot. The details of the political conversations and manipulation is quite clever and well done. It's a very interesting story line and, of course, the smut is superb!

Author's Response: Thanks so much! I'm not really into politics and hadn't taken any poli sci classes, so it means a lot to me that I was able to get it right by the tone. :) I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far.

This story is lovely. I'm a political science major, so I appreciate the politics in all of it.

Author's Response: Having never taken poli sci, I'm glad it still works! It occurred to me that in the wake of DH (minus epilogue, anyway) there would be so much subtle political stuff, and it was never touched on in the books. But then, I like poking about in all that unmentioned stuff. :)

Am LOVING this story. I can't believe more people haven't reviewed. Thing I love about your smutty scenes is that they are always very sexy but real. And there is a background that is real too - I could see the politics of post-war Wizarding Britain being like this. Just love it!

Author's Response: I'm a storyporn kinda girl. I work in the smut, but there needs to be a point to it and a plot to the overall story. I'm glad you're the same way. :) The original drabble really drew me in because of the difficulties in Post-war Britain. JKR glossed over all that, but I really wanted to see it. That's what made this story fun for me, and also writing aspects of the characters in ways that are a little different from what I'm used to was great.

It's sweet how Ginny has taken Pansy under her wing, and convinced her family to do so, too! It seems Ginny knows how to manipulate everyone--from Molly to the Minister. I'm interested to see how she does once she starts gaining confidence. I also find it interesting that everyone Draco knows seems to be concerned that she will break his heart. :) Anyway, thank you for the update. I'm looking forward to the next one!

Author's Response: Ginny's very social and can be very charming, though she doesn't realize that. It's what really helped get the enterprise off the ground and is what allows her to really get to know others. She might think of it as "Slytherin," but she can be likeable, and that's all you really need to get a good conversation going. Once it's started, the manipulation can be worked right in pretty naturally. :)

Hehe, Pansy is brilliant. This was a great chapter. I liked pretty much every part of it. From how Draco slipped up and mentioned that he loves Ginny, to how Ginny doesn't know if it's too early to reciprocate, to Narcissa's cheeky mention of not breaking her son's heart, to how Ginny wowed the crowds and the Minister of Magic all in one evening.. oh, and the parts with Pansy were very well written. It's great to see the different facets of her character, rather than just the drunk!Pansy (although, that too can be fun to read about!). :)

Very much enjoying the fast updates and hoping that they continue. :)

Author's Response: I have a lot of favorite bits in this chapter, too. :) Since the story's already finished, there's no problem in posting fast updates. :D

Haha oh she was flirting! I'm curious about Chesterfield, he hasn't spoken yet, and I wonder how old he really is..hmm.

Author's Response: I liked writing Ginny in this chapter. She's a little oblivious to her own sense of charm and the skill she has in talking with people. :) We will definitely hear from Chesterfield, not to worry.

Nice! So, he's taken with her is he and even Narcissa has noticed.... interesting. Wonder if Arthur and Molly did/will as well and how they'll handle it....

Author's Response: For anyone that knows Draco well, it's really obvious. :)

That scene with Pansy and Ginny- I think it was the most heartbreaking scene I've read in quite a while. It was sad yet beautiful at the same time to hear Pansy talk about such hurtful things..  It's just one of those moments that tear at your heart..
This is lovely, I loved the whole chapter :) Can't wait for more.

Author's Response: Thank you so much. I really like the Pansy in this story, and not just as a foil for Ginny. She's quite a character in her own right, and I've grown to like her a lot while writing this story.
Name: oxymoron8 reviewed Belle of the Ball on Sep 23, 2008 05:24 am
Poor Pansy. I didn't think that she had it that rough. I'm glad that she and Gin are friends. Will that help her more then anything else? I really wish that it wouldn't be a scandal for them to be seen together. It will eventually get better for them to be seen together? Happy writing. :)

Author's Response: This is a more heartbreaking Pansy than I've written before, so it really plays off of Ginny's strength in this one. They are starting to develop a real friendship, which I liked exploring in the story. At this stage in the story, it definitely would hurt the cause for Ginny and Draco to get together. Of course, there's a few more chapters to go...

Pansy is fascinating. She never quite does what I expect, and I think she's going to turn out to be a really great friend. Which is good, because Ginny will be good for her. It's good to see that Ginny is learning and able to slip in little comments here and there that get people thinking without her actually telling them to think. Very sly.

Author's Response: I never seem to write the same Pansy. In this one, her story is completely heartbreaking, and she's definitely a lot more fragile than she lets on in the beginning. She and Ginny really do complement each other well, and it was nice to really develop their friendship.

One of the most beautiful D?G love scenes of all time. So much more than just smut. Absolutely gorgeous.

Another excellent chapter. I love that Ginny took the lead again, and I love the way that Draco resisted, but couldn't resist in the end. Lovely. And on a completely different note, I really liked the sly way Ginny suggested that she introduce Millicent to Percy. As always, I am looking forward to the next chapter. Thanks for the update!

Author's Response: lol. I really enjoyed writing a slightly different Ginny than my usual take. Here, her past isn't one that broke her, but made her stronger and more aware. I like this Ginny a lot better, actually, and it shows. :)
