Harm

What’s in a kiss? a touch? a glance?
A feeling that grows in your heart?
You haven’t betrayed
You’ve done nothing wrong

So, where’s the harm, after all?

As fire spreads and the moonlight rises
There’s nothing to run from, nothing to fear
It happens so slowly, there’s nothing to fight
No deadly evil that lurks in the night.

So, where’s the harm, after all?

Slowly, slowly
Daylight into night
You never see it coming
but it happens all the same.

So, where’s the harm, after all?

Who could have guessed at, who could have seen
A change that took place in the night?
Nothing was wrong
Nothing was strange

So, where’s the harm, after all?

Then wake and find
that everything’s changed.
Slowly, slowly
day into night.
dark into light.

And the harm?
It was there, all along.

A/N I wrote this poem a few months ago, when I was about halfway through writing my Draco/Ginny fic, Ill Met By Moonlight. I didn’t want to put it up then and give away the ending of my story. If you didn’t catch on, this is a poem about Ginny’s gradual fall into darkness because of her relationship with Draco. I hope you like!
