A/N:- Though this poem wasn't written with D/G specifically in mind, once it was complete I was surprised by how much it really fit them! Drop a line and let me know what you think!

For Tomorrow is a New Day

He watched her withdraw and slowly fade away
Like a cheap portrait shrinking and chipping with age.
Yet he looked on and on, for tomorrow is a new day.

When it had started, he couldn’t exactly say,
But from the moment they put her in that cage
He watched her withdraw and slowly fade away.

She was cold and empty despite the caress of the ray;
Her face bore more lines, but she was a blank page;
Yet he looked on and on, for tomorrow is a new day.

There was a time when she had been passionate and gay,
Laughter bubbling from her lips or her eyes flashing with rage…
He watched her withdraw and slowly fade away.

She lay obedient and silent, wasting away;
A contest of wills she never did wage.
Yet he looked on and on, for tomorrow is a new day.

Not a minute passed by when he did not wish and pray
That it had simply been a horrific play on stage.
He watched her withdraw and slowly fade away,
Yet he looked on and on, for tomorrow is a new day.
The End.
