Across the hall he watched the girl
He'd loved her for the past six years
His eyes drawn to her fiery curl
He could not let her see his fears
So alone – 'midst all of her friends
Family feuds kept them apart
Her pain he saw – it never ends
He yearned to ease it from her heart
To honor his father's bidding
He could only watch from afar
But really – who was he kidding
She was his fiery little star
Would she ever know how he tried
To break his family's sacred code
He longed to hold her when she cried
She acted like he was a toad
So loyal to his father's name
With her a life he could not have
His father thought it just a game
A smile from her was like a salve
One day he knew his heart would break
As he watched her exit the hall
Never dreaming what it might take
For her life, her love, and her all
Taking his future in his hand
He dared to speak her name out loud
Proclaiming over all the land
He loved her so and was so proud
This little girl – a fiery gem
Accepts his love with all her might
She wants to spend her life with him
No matter if they have to fight
Their future life won't all be fun
Filled with periods of great strife
But when it all is said and done
They will be a man and his wife
The End.
