Hmm, is Tracey there too? Someone else was there with Warrington since he didn't seem all that shocked to have intruders. Well, leave it on a bloody cliffie, will you? *crosses arms* Fine, be that way! You better update soon, Missy. ^_~ Lovely, suspenseful chapter.

Author's Response: ... You should get some holy water for your review :D. Tracey wasn't there. There were other house elves though, and so Warrington thought the commotion was with them. Tracey doesn't remember Warrington. It's why he's so angry. And of course I left it on a cliffie, it's what I do.

It was times like these that Draco missed his old Potions professor. Snape would know what to do in this situation, though Draco had not given up.

Ack, this got to me, 'cause I was thinking the exact same thing.

Narcissa walked up to her son, wrapping him in an embrace. "You're not too old to cry."

I do love your Narcissa - she's such a great mum. *sniffs*

And I love your pregnant, hormonal Hermione. Normally, I'm not a big fan of her - mainly in her teenage years - but I assume she would have calmed down in her later years. ^_~

Eeeh! Luna gave birth to little Gwen. Adorable! And Ginny's awake! Yay! What a happy ending to this chapter. You better not to a 360, missy! =P

Author's Response: I love Snape. I want to write a fic where he's alive, just so I can go: aawww, Snape. He's not really an 'awww' character. Then again, neither is Draco and I 'awwww' over him all the time. Narcissa has slowly but surely become one of my favorite characters to write. As for Hermione, well, we don't need to rehash our discussion from last time. Hehe. :) I'm glad you liked little Gwen and Ginny waking up. It's a nice happy ending where happy endings had been absent. Thanks for the review!

Lovely chapter. I loved the interactions between Luna and Ginny, and especially Draco and Ginny. That boy is confusing her, dammit! I agree with Luna, Ginny should go off somewhere and make Draco pine for her. Okay, so maybe Luna didn't say those exact words, but she was thinking them. *nods*

Lovely, lovely descriptions. I had to say that this is one of my favourite chapters, yet no one is being kidnapped, slapped, or thoroughly snogged. ^_~

Author's Response: I laughed when I read that last line. It's true. It's not a very 'eventful' chapter, and Draco is confusing because he's confused. He just doesn't know what confusion is because he is so used to knowing everything. Yes, I'm calling Draco a know-it-all, sort of. ;)

Yay! Happy ending! She's his ginger cookie. Awwwwww! Fluff overload. This is great. I must now read the epilogue.

Author's Response: It was fluffy, wasn't it? I won't lie. I indulged a lot. :) There was no other way to end this story, really.

"Next time? I clearly recall that on the way in here, you promised I wouldn't be able to step within ten feet of you naked."

"I also told you I would castrate you," Ginny said airily. "If you're going to take everything I said to heart, don't forget that particular sentiment."

Lol! Great. Fantastic epilogue. What a fabulous ride this has been. And congratulations on finishing this. You did a wonderful job, and I am very proud of you, love. *hugs*

Author's Response: :) Thanks, Lia! One day I'll be saying the same thing to you. I look forward to that day.

Author's Response: Ah, my darling Lia! As you can see, the notoriously bad author Roma strikes again: late review reply, and late update! I can see you shaking your head at me right now as you read it, and I deserve it. Delightful review, m'dear, and I hope all is going well. :)

Hehehe, I think this is fast becoming my favourite stories of yours. It's brill. I love your usage of Pansy and Theo in this. Simply hilarious. I do hope you update soon. ^_^ ~Lia

Author's Response: Your favorite right now is...The Art of Being Bad? I dunno. I should be up-to-date on this because being on your favorites list is akin to being blessed by God. ;p I heart Pansy and Theo so much right now. All the time. There should be more Pansy/Theo love. Blaise is great, of course, but he's on a whole 'nother level. Pansy and Theo are the perfect secondary characters in DG fanfiction, because I think Blaise and Luna have the potential to match or eclipse Draco and Ginny. Well, not eclipse, but every time I write them, I want to write Blaise/Luna instead of Draco/Ginny. x) I'm glad you like it. I'm also super glad you're reviewing here. 'cause you're amazing, you know that?

Reviewer: Incognito Signed

Oh, I really liked this chapter, Roma. The description of Ginny's painting was incredibly vivid and long, but not in the boring sense. Lol. Normally, I can't stand long, descriptive writing, but here it was apropos. Also, very well done with the Draco/Ginny interaction. It's really getting heated, and I like how she seemed to subconsciously riling Draco up so that she could capture the angry "indifference" in his smouldering grey eyes. Well done. I must say, I am getting very excited to read the next chapter. This shall now be tracked and favourited. ^_^ ~Lia

Author's Response: Thank you, Lia m'dear. I'm not an painter in any sense (I tend to avoid any sort of visual artistry, actually), so it was fun to try to write it as a painter would see it. I'm also super glad it's not description-heavy, because I think as a writer, that's one of my weaknesses: I rely too heavily on exposition and too little on the dialogue to carry a story. Luckily this story doesn't require TOO much exposition (I write this and I realize, "Oh, right, it does...") so that's good. I hope you enjoy the next chapter (which should be approved soon enough). Thanks, darling.

I really liked the Everything Reminds Me of You dialogue. It so very sad and poignant, and spot-on for how I would expect Draco to react to her plea. I can actually feel the heartache, the longing, and the regret for what could never be.

I also love how you worked the title of the song into the dialogue or at least the overall theme.

Having said all that, one of my favourite lines is from Luna in Anyone But You":
“What’s wrong with you? He just wanted a dance.”

Well done. You should consider writing a chaptered fic or a longer one-shot based off of one of these excerpts. =)

Author's Response: Thank you, very much, for the nice long review. Sadly, I don't think I'm going to do anything longer from this.

I love Ginny in this. Not that I love her personality - at all - but I am in awe of how much you have me hating her. She has not grown up in these past seven years while Draco has! I believe he could be a bit more snarkier (personal preference), but he truly has matured, which is nice to read.

It is also refreshing to read a fic where Harry is not a prat! (finally!) Harry and Ron are truly IC here. Harry is willing to give the benefit of the doubt whereas Ron is not.

Now to read the next chapter! ^^

"She had always thought of herself as a good person—brave, noble, fierce—the perfect Gryffindor. She had seen everything she had done through that filter." -- Wonderful and apt two lines.

I am so glad you included Narcissa in this fic. In my mind she is the epitome of class and decorum, and you demonstrated that admirably.

"The answer came to her along with a fluttering feeling in her stomach." -- the fluttering feelings in my stomach are what I felt when Draco admits that he was flirting with her. ^_~

This was smartly done. I like how your HP story even had elements of Much Ado About Nothing in it. It was a very pleasant read.

Author's Response: Thank you very much for both reviews! I'm glad you enjoyed the fic so much, especially Narcissa. That scene was one of the first I imagined when thinking about the story, so I appreciate that you picked up on it. Thanks again!

Oh Emma, this is so beautiful. The imagery was perfect. Such a sad, poignant narrative. I love you for having Ron tell their tale (and his own). So few use Ron this way and make it believable!

There are so many wonderful, poetic lines, but for me this narrative by Ron held fast with me:

He had left them where they had fallen, not daring to disturb the peaceful picture they made, so at odds with the way they had died. A tear slipped onto a single eyelash, balancing on the end as it tried, trembling, to defy gravity. A moment later, it fell. Proof, he thought, that you could not defy the laws of nature.

Brilliant. One of the best angst pieces I have read.

Even in death, they had not let go of each other.

Such an indelible picture of the two star-crossed lovers. Well done, Emma. Well done.

~Lia

Author's Response: Lia! I was rather pleased to see your name on the review list! I am so relieved that so far people seem to have liked Ron as the narrator - it was a bit chancy using him, but worth it, I felt. Thank you for your lovely, lovely words. Emma

As you already know, I love this story because it was written for me! *beams*

In all honesty, I thought you had one of Kim's prompts because you were so concerned about not letting down the girl you were writing for. Like you could disappoint me! I am so glad you added the smut! Heheh. You're so much better at it than I.

~Lia

Author's Response: Well, you know what they say, great minds think alike. The nervousness had a lot to do with reading your stories. And I kept thinking, gosh, she's awesome. Is she going to like my writing and what I've done with the plot she wanted? The one thing I wasn't nervous about was the smut. I loved writing it so much that I forgot about the nerves. I'm such a smut-writing freak of nature. Kidding. No, but I really do love writing smut. I don't know why. And you are pretty good at writing smut. I know because I've read Mine, Forever. Your smutty Ginny is pretty awesome. I am glad you liked it though. It makes me feel so much better.

The Rose by Maleficent    (Reviews - 27)

"The next morning she awoke to a red rose laid carefully on the pillow beside her. Once a sign of his love, now the ruby petals stood only as a symbol of his betrayal."

Just in time for Halloween, a horror story examining the ways betrayal and repressed pain can warp and twist the heart and mind. Not a story for the light of heart.

Wow. The entire time I was reading this, I wanted to make Draco physically manifest in front of me so that I could rip his balls off. I refrained from attempting such magics (beyond the fact that such a notion is insane) because I thought that Draco had to be under a love spell. But for so long? Oh my God. While I know it was all Lucius' doing, I wonder who his mistress was, and I wonder who Molly's old flame was.

Well written. Ginny's sense of desperation, loneliness, and fear was real and palpable. And for once, her mother wasn't a bitch. Her mother was understanding, reasonable.

I felt so much pity for Ginny. She tried so hard. She knew he loved her, but she couldn't understand (or even know) that he was under a spell. Now after finding out that Draco was under a spell, I pity him too.

I really hope that you do write a happy ending for them. They deserve it.

Kudos!

Great chapter! It was full of comedy and action! I am loving Snape in this. His link with "Oreo" is a very neat concept, and I was genuinely shocked when the broom turned out to be a Portkey. Now I am just curious about the new DADA professor. Hmm. Love interest for Snape?

Can't wait to see more DG interaction. Keep up the good work!

“We’re going off course! Trust you not to…”

“We have not and I should know. Girls have no sense of direction.”

HAHA! Draco and Ginny's interactions are making me chuckle with amusement. You have them so spot on. I love how snarky Draco is (his father is such a bastard). And it's so cute that Snape is able to make them act somewhat (begrudgingly) cordially to one another.

I am so glad you have Ginny noticing Snape and starting to crush on him a little. This will only 1) make Snape extremely uncomfortable, and 2) piss Draco off! Heheh.

More please!

Ginny better realise that she likes Draco! He, obviously, has begun to notice her, not because she likes Potter but because she likes this Woodley character, who looks (and even acts a little bit) like Draco.

Oh, I forgot to mention this in my last review. My favourite line in the story, so far, is from Chapter Five, in which Draco and Ginny are arguing about Woodley and Ginny is doing a compare/contrast between the two, and Snape "compliments" Draco: Snape raised his eyebrows and tried his best not to look amused. “Hey, I think you have the voice of an angel,” he called out.

Hee Hee! Priceless. I cannot wait to read more. This is a highly addictive story you have here.

Thank you for finishing this. Please tell me you plan to write more stories. To be frank, please tell me you plan to write more Snape stories. Or if you don't want to write another one on your own again, maybe do a collaboration? Hmm? I'm sure there are many who'd proffer their services. ^_^

I really liked this story in the challenge. I found it to be very original and followed scuba's prompt brilliantly. I, personally, found both yours and Robyn's to be the most creative fics.

I love Ginny as Ms. Resentful and Draco as the spoiled brat: "Draco loved cheese more than anything else in the world; and being a selfish, uncaring brat, that extended to people as well." -- Heheh

The formatting is a little wonky. You might want to look into tweaking it as it is a tad distracting from your lovely tale that you are weaving.

Other than that, this is a refreshing non-clichéd piece (not too many serf-Master pieces out there that I know of).

Well done. Now bring it home.

~Lia

Author's Response:

Oooh, thank you.

I had so much fun being the narrator in this; the introductory chapter especially just flew out, and I even giggled as I wrote it. :)

Thanks for the note. I have since edited that.

Thanks! One reason for that is, I think, because no one wants to make their fics totally AU - they want to change events in the storyline, not use the characters to make a new storyline altogether. And Master-serf fics would generally have to be more AU than people prefer to write. That's my on-the-spot theory, anyway.

Next chapter's submitted, so I shall indeed be "bringing it home" soon. ;)

*squeals with delight*

This is 1) my favourite chapter in this wonderfully hilarious story, and 2) I believe it is my favourite chapter in any DG story of all time.

The chapter title says it all: The Day That Ginny Weasley Became a Prostitute!

Delightful! I have said it many times in many reviews, truly wonderful to read. Ginny reading Cosmo-esque magazines, fishing through an especially woolly wardrobe, and imagining Draco staring at her open-mouthed as she tosses her hair effortlessly, coyly grins at him and says huskily, "You like what you see?"

Genius, woman! Genius! The fact that when she is rocketed out of her daydream to the effect of Draco comparing her to a hooker only made the imagery that more magical -- magical in its accuracy and hilarity.

Merlin, I love this story.

Author's Response: Wow. If I could blush, I do believe I would be quite pink right now. Thanks, Lia. ^_^
