This story was incredibly beautiful. I have almost never left any reviews, but once in a while, when I stumble across something that makes me really sit back and think, I will make the effort to tell the author how good the story was.
First off, I would like to say that the only thing that would've bothered me was the characterization of Ginny. I know that many others have brought this up and you have defended your view of her characterization. I admit that there is reason behind the way she is, but I have always loved the fiery and fiesty Ginny.
That being said, everything else was amazing. YOu have so many lovely descriptions that took my breath away, and the ending was perfect. There is that sense of melancholy and pain for things that can never be. Instead of writing off a happily ever after ending, you chose to give the realistic side. Because even if I am a loyal Draco/Ginny shipper, I will admit that there is a certain unrealistic side to the two of them being able to work out in JKR's world. Of course, I do occasionally enjoy the happily ever after, but it's endings like yours that stick with me, long after the others fade together.
And now, on to the part of the story that made this perhaps one of the most memorable D/G fanfics I have read so far: Draco. As many others have also mentioned, his character in this fanfic is amazing. It's real, it's raw, and it's Draco. I have never been able to stand any fanfic Dracos who have been reduced to pathetic heaps of romanticized gushiness. For me, it simply does not make sense, given his background and upbrining. Draco will never be one to overly show his emotions. Nor is he, realistically, teasing and fun. He is, just as you wrote him to be: cold, slightly withdrawn, and when you get down to it, a boy who brings emotional and mental pain to hide his own. To this, you're portrayal of him is dead accurate. And because of this, I accept that Ginny's character in this relationship builds Draco, to the point where it's heart-breaking.
I don't know if I want you to write a sequel. This is not to say that I am not curious about what happens. However, there is a certain beauty in the love that will never be again, a final good-bye. Draco's choice basically seals that. I think I would want to leave this story with this feeling. Of course, if I find a sequel (which I doubt, since you wrote this four years ago), I will read it. But, like Rhett to Scarlet, and many others, perhaps the final hit is that this story's greatest pain is also it's greatest beauty.
