The minutes ticked by, long enough for Ginny to know that against all reason, all common sense, she still wanted impossible things from him. But she would leave. Ah, Loki. He seems to love to push Draco to his limit... :D Very entertaining! Also, I have to say, I love how everything comes together and adds up like a puzzle, the way you manage to keep your plot line perfectly and impeccable in order is beyond me-- that's extraordinary :D Fantabulous as usual :)
Author's Response: Thank you, thank you! :) Yes, I do TRY to get everything to come together in terms of plotline, and I keep very extensive notes in different files (more organized with DDD than any other fic before it), so I think that it does. My biggest difficulty is in keeping things from running away and escaping and becoming 554,893,749.52 chapters. ;) But I think the main reason why things got extended here was that Ginny had to go through a few cycles of struggling to define herself as a person, and then falling back into horribly strong craving for Draco. And with fanfic, it can go on, and ON, and there's no word limit, and-- (lassos escaping plot bunny!!) Anyway... from here on in, a LOT has been written and planned already, so as much as it will evolve, there really is a framework. :)
Something tells me Loki will be back... ;)
Also, I am still seeing some really weird connection between Ginny and Marie.. I'm not sure if they're parallels of each other or if they ARE each other, but there is definitely something big there...
Poor Draco and Ginny...they can never be together, it makes me kinda sad :(

Author's Response: About Loki... it's very possible, eventually... Yes, there is a big connection between Ginny and Marie, and it will continue to be important in the plot. Draco and Ginny WILL be together. Just give it a little time. :)
One last teensy thing that I, as usual, forgot to say. I absolutely love your 'pop' noise for Draco's heart! Great symbolism detail, it was subtle, and well done. My favorite part of writing anything is the subtle, faintly noticeable little motifs, allegories, parallelisms, or metaphors that you can just slip into writing. For me they make all the difference between a well-written story, and an amazingly wirtten one, context-wise :)

Author's Response: Oh thanks! I'm so glad you caught that. Draco was really hurt by what happened and by what he had to do in Chapter 40, even though the way he reacted by lashing out at Ginny was awful. Anyway, the Field Guide to DDD is coming very very soon... stay tuned...

Another one of the lines that made me laugh for a solid two minutes, not too sure why: “I don’t dare smoke here. I know it. I could use a fag, though. If Creevey were here, I’d be telling him to shut up and not even think about snickering, I suppose... " !!!!! I'm from the down South, so when British people use that word, it makes me laugh like crazy...
So, after reading this author's note at the top of the chapter, and then reading (and rereading) the end of this chapter, I am positively DYING to know what will happen next :)

Okay, so I've changed my mind. THIS is the dirtiest, yet best written, D/G smut I have EVER read in my life. I think there should be a room in hell just for reading it. No joke. Maybe we can be like next-door neighbors or something.
On a more figurative level, I love the evolution (yay! a connection back to the theme of evolution!) of Ginny's character in this chapter. She goes from being controlled by Draco to actually attempting to push his limits, which is great :) It shows a weakness in Draco that makes him seem more human and imperfect, which is fantastic :D
Anyways, nice chapter! Always excited for more!

I want to applaud you Draco in this chapter, I love how you gave him two completely different personas, it makes him a complex, multi-faceted character, which a lot of stories don't feature. God knows it's ridiculously hard to write without making it seem like your character is suffering from MPD. So, kudos! :D Additionally, Draco is being a better person (at least in his own eyes), which is making him doubly irresistable. :)
Author's Response: Thank you! :) Okay. That's fair enough-- no Queen of Smut crown until the actual D/G dirty deed. One thing I can guarantee is that it WILL happen... eventually. ;) (I have *such* an evil plot device leading up to it, too. But everything will work out.) The thing I always keep in mind when it comes to Draco's character is that he has a remarkable ability to keep things very compartmentalized in his head. Because he actually has a lot of control over this ability, I don't see him as having straight-up DID (that's what MPD was renamed in the DSM-IV-- dissociative identity disorder. Ginny has more trouble than he does with this, really.) Of course, everything doesn't always stay neatly in those compartments.
But yes, he really, really believes that he's been doing the right thing through the entire CP episode. This is true, because he easily could have taken advantage of Ginny, and he didn't do it-- but he also created the situation where this was possible. A critical moment is coming up, as I've been hinting for awhile now, and Draco will *still* be convinced that he's doing the right thing. What will Ginny think? We'll find out soon...
As usual, your smut was BEYOND fabulous!! Seriously, you should consider writing smut as a career :)

Author's Response: I do. You would not believe how weird and bizarre it is, though. No. Seriously. You wouldn't. It really is tied to the theme of evolution, though. Very much so, and also to the other major theme of the fic, which is consciousness (and I REALLY can't completely explain that one, but all of those Obliviation incidents are kinda involved.) Anyway, the explanation for the story title is complicated and weird and lengthy and involves philosophical schools of thought and scientists and so forth. Are you SURE you want to know the entire story of what it is? You may decide I'm completely nuts when I explain it. In fact, everybody may be convinced already. In fact, I think I see that white van again, and they're getting out of it with the butterfly nets... ;)
Anise, the men with the butterfly nets are already on to you...but Loki tricked them into falling off a cliff. :D So, as of now, you've been saved by a figment of your imagination.. go figure. :)

Ohmygosh...I actually felt for Astoria at this point, considering she was a mess and was being dragged away by Harry and company...and then I read that she was trying to get her hands on the Malfoy money..so there goes the sympathy. But there's still some left.
Harry is a dick in this chapter. Like, seriously. How rude.
See, in the last chapter, Draco explained all of the pluses to being a Malfoy mistress. Again, I thnik he's still thinking the whole'wow-look-at-me-I'm-so-generous-and-kind-loving-and-a-good-person when he offers her those luxourious gifts (my favorites were the Lamborghini Reventon and Marc Jacobs, whom I ah-dore :D)....and she refuses them.
For the very first time, I felt like Ginny was being a completely and totally independently strong character when refusing to Draco, so yay for her!
And then Zach was being nice here :) So double yay!

Author's Response: I think that I do feel sorry for Astoria in a way, knowing her backstory (all of which I can't reveal, of course...) Yes, Harry's a dick, but from his POV he isn't, if that makes any sense. He thinks that he's doing the best thing that he can for Ginny, although of course, clearly he isn't. And I LOVED Ginny at the end of the last chapter. I think that she did the only thing she could. About Sir Sniffingsworth... I did drop some hints, you know... ;) Zach even started to say his name.
