Not Ready to Make Nice by anna    (Reviews - 148)

(DH spoilers!) Some speculated that Fred and George were training her to take over someday, that she was their protégé and the heiress of Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. The only one Fred and George would see as worthy to take over, people said. ( 7th year, Rated Naughty just in case.)

Hey, just to say that in England, people don't drink eggnog at Christmas. It's usually an American thing to do. (I've only heard of it in films from the US.)

I particularly enjoyed reading Ginny's musing regarding the different names Draco calls her - Gin, Ginny, Weasley or just 'brat'. It's rather in character for Draco, methinks, as he uses it as a way to either distance himself.

"Bottle caps. They love those. Or maybe that’s Luna I’m thinking of. Hehe, that made me giggle. It's these little additions to the story that flesh out the characters even more. Draco grumbling under his breath about how the house elves will probably try to off themselves was amusing too - it's nice to get little insights into Draco's mind, especially seeing that this is in Ginny's point of view.

Author's Response: Really? My dad is from England and he and that side of the family go mad for it at Christmastime. Also, I double-checked on the HP Lexicon while writing this chapter and it mentions eggnog being served in CS. But I suppose anything is possible ;)\r\n\r\nI\'m glad you are enjoying the story so far though! I know my updates are sparse, but I haven\'t given up yet, I promise. Your feedback was very insightful and encouraging, so thank you!

It's refreshing to read about a Draco at Hogwarts that hasn't turned to mush by his Romeo & Juliet-esque love for Ginny.

Short, but the bluntness of this emphasises the chasm that now comes between them both. I could almost feel it.

Hehe, the not-so-veiled comments are fun to read. I'd love to see some Blaise/Luna in the near future. That pairing always makes me smile.

Draco's got to be kidding if he thinks he can just walk up to Ginny and sweep her off her feet. I'm curious to find out how far Blaise would go to protect Ginny from Draco and at what point he'll truly believe Draco to be good enough for her, if ever. Guess I'll just have to read on to see...

Yay! There is hope on the horizon. 'Though Draco's reasoning had better be along the lines of "If I hadn't married Pansy, we would have both been subjected to a very old, extremely painful curse involving feeling as though we're being skinned alive for the remainder of our lives". Anything else and I don't think I could forgive him, even if Ginny may be blinded by her love to the contrary.

Heh, here I am talking as though they are people and not fictional characters.. I'm too far gone; my obsession with D/G fics has altered my sense of reality and only another instalment of this fic would help me to retain some semblance of sanity. (hmm, I'm not sure that argument made any sense, but I'm hoping it has the desired result. :))

I like how you've expanded on the awkwardness of the friendship between Ginny and Draco. It was sure to happen and I'm looking forward to see how it will progress from here. What would it take for Draco to admit his feelings? It's clear that Ginny isn't totally in love with Harry; maybe she just accepted the proposal because it would be expected of her to do so?

Ah, the angst! Meddling McGonagall was good to see. Someone needs to knock some sense into Draco to tell him to not just give up on Ginny. And Ginny; her struggle with herself in Draco's chambers was very well written.

I can't help but notice how your chapters are titled after Lifehouse song titles. *grins* When I realised, I put their album on. Sad, huh?

What an ending. I wonder if Narcissa and Severus will get together now that Lucius has died. Well, I mostly wonder what Ginny will do when a photo of her and Draco is splashed across the tabloids. I suppose it may make breaking up with Harry easier, but her family would never accept Draco if they perceive him as being a reason for the break up.

I hope that there'll be a new chapter soon. This story is very well written, especially in the characterisations.

Shades of Grey by noludoru    (Reviews - 4)

AU. Ginny sees things in black and white, she knows you're either good or evil, end of story. Draco Malfoy sees things differently. Black is never as dark or evil as you think it is and white is never as bright and wonderful as it seems to be: everything is a shade of grey, with a measure of both good and evil.

It would be wonderful to have this story continued, but I understand that it's been a long gap since you last posted.
The part at the start, with Draco saddened by the fact that he would be classed as evil was heartfelt, especially since he is so young.

Breaking His Heart by fallenwitch    (Reviews - 86)

The War tears the Slytherin from his redheaded witch. Heartbreak, damning choices, and assumptions rule the day. A tale of love where angst meets romance on the long road to a possible happily ever after. This fic contains the usual potty-mouth language, a snarky Draco, a feisty Ginny, sarcastic humor, romance, and a bit of angst.

Aah! This story just *cannot* end here! I feel so invested in Draco's plight. Poor guy really can't catch a break, can he?

The tension between Ginny and Draco was well expressed. "Stop looking at me in that tone of voice." is a prime example. *g* You can just sense that they are both at their wit's end.

I wonder whether Draco will go after Ginny to apologise and explain his abrupt behaviour. Or maybe he'll decide to retain a slither of his 'Malfoy pride' as he calls it and return to having tense silence between them. Will they both still be in the cottage when the baby is born? How will it be delivered? Will the child look like it's father? So many possibilities...

I really hope that you continue this story, as it has great promise. Oh, and happy new year! :)

Even when I think I can't love this Draco more, I read the last part of this chapter and *squee* as he clearly loves Ginny so very much, even if he curses everyone and everything that caused their circumstances to be what they are.

Draco's characterisation is brilliant. His inner voice berating himself hits just the right balance of being self-critical without becoming whinging. Lines like:"The bloody stuff was obviously contagious and perilous to his health." and such are very Draco.

Oh my goodness. Totally not what I was expecting. I don't know quite what to say. *rushes off to read the next chapter*. *rushes back for a sec* Just to say that the Ginny/Draco argument was totally spot on. Draco's total confusion at Ginny's actions were realistic as I was as confused as he. Ginny's righteous indignation is a hard thing to write, I think, but you definitely managed it.

Wow. Draco's desperation to hold on to a memory of Ginny is so heartfelt.
The style of the writing in this chapter is very effective; Draco's monologue of his thoughts on his relationship are not from when he is sitting alone, but actually him trying to sort through his thoughts while Ginny is pleading with him.

The last line is heartbreaking :'(

~...and he was absolutely devastated. ~
Poor Draco! You've so masterfully conveyed how adrift Draco feels now that he has lost his purpose, his drive in life to return to Ginny after the war. I got so excited when he saw Ginny at first, but had a niggling doubt that all would go smoothly, unfortunately it seems like that first instinct was right. For some reason, though, I feel like Ginny must've had *some* reason for being pregnant... maybe she thought Draco was dead? Then she met someone and is now pregnant by him? I shall read on and hope there is a good enough reason..

Unstoppable by CharmedLife19    (Reviews - 224)

There are three things that truly matter to Lucius Malfoy: his family, his wealth and his blood. So of course, it was of utmost importance that his son marry a pureblood. Thus Lucius begins to arrange the perfect bride for his son. She must have both beauty and brains. She must be skillful with a wand, but with the elegance to know when to use it. When it comes down to it there is really only one woman that matches the criterion, but she comes with one problem: She’s a Weasley.

Yay, what a fun chapter. It's a shame that the title of the chapter gave the game away, as I was anticipating them to declare their love for one another before I even started reading. Nevertheless, it was a great chapter - Ginny telling off Harry for his ludicrous notions was greatly amusing and totally in character. Although it seems rather too convenient that Draco knew that particular 'untouched hair and make-up' spell, I don't have the heart to care too much about that; Draco was so very romantic with that little speech of his.

Ooh, it'll be great to read the next three chapters in such a short space of time. I can't wait!

Author's Response: Draco was a bachelor for many years, and he was most certainly far from being a virgin before marrying Ginny - is it really a surprise that he knew a spell to keep them from looking like they just shagged like rabbits in the middle of some sort of gala?

Aww! What a sweet chapter. That was a lovely bit of fluff that made me smile. Oh, and in response to your reply to my previous review: okay, I understand what you mean. It isn't so unexpected that Draco would know such a spell. Heh, he seems to have a lot of opportunities to practice it, too. ;D

Both Draco's and Ron's reactions to finding out about Ginny's pregnancy were great fun to read. I particularly liked how Ginny aided Draco in baiting Ron.

I look forward to reading the epilogue. :)

I've noticed that you have quite a few references to Buffy in your fics; I'm glad you've made this a song-fic of Walk Through the Fire - I loved the Once More With Feeling episode; watched it countless times. There's a great synchronising of the paragraphs to who sung lyrics in the Buffy ep. For example, just after reading Spike's lyrics came the part with Draco, so I had this merge of James Marsden and what I imagine Draco to look like. Hehe, the results wasn't too bad looking ;p

The emptiness that comes with the"So one by one, they turn from me" is something I can imagine coming from Ginny. There's an interesting take on Ginny's character in this ficlet. I like the mention of Ginny as being the Key; another nod to Whedon's work, I see. :)

I have to commend you on making the rather complex Spike-Buffy relationship through the song lyrics (with all the 'I'll kill her then I'll save her' lines] make sense for a D/G fic. 'Tis very well done. I keep seeing the similarities - like how they've kept their relationship secret from all around them, etc.

Hehehe, I love the parallel between the ending of the fic and the end of the OMWF episode. What a great way to finish.

Author's Response: Huh. Key, Key. I never even noticed that. Boy, subconscious is Joss Whedon\'s playground. OMWF is one of my favourites so I felt the need to write a fic to it. :D I\'m glad you liked it. I actually found it quite hard to write so I\'m immensely glad that the paragraphs came over as synchronised. Thank you very much for your review. I appreciate the time you put into it. :D

It's a great shame that this story hasn't been continued. Is there any chance of more chapters being written? I have read many Mail-order Bride fics, but this one has a freshness that I haven't seen before. Ginny isn't being forced to marry by some arcane law or because her family has all died in the war and she needs to escape poverty. She's doing it of her own violation and it would be great to see how she will deal with the consequences. And I like Draco's approach; his last comment regarding Ginny's honest answer is something particularly in character. And I'm sure that deep down he'd just love to see the look on Ron's face when he finds out about the marriage. *grins* Don't we all.

So, any chance of a continuation?

Author's Response: I do plan to continue the story. I\'m just REALLY slow with updates. Really, really slow. It\'s not abandoned, though. I\'m glad you\'re enjoying it enough to ask! Thanks for the review!

Very well written. I especially like how you wove the poem into the story, so that it becomes part of the narrative. Draco is a heartless man to leave Ginny and their daughter to marry Pansy.

I like how you gradually introduce what is happening; firstly with Ginny's tears, then news of the impending wedding and then the fact that Ginny is pregnant. Slowly but surely the whole picture comes together. (Now I'm gonna run off to read the next part..)

That last line was a wonderful culmination of the fic. It wraps up the little inserts that you've added into the main flow of the story. I like how there's the possibility of attraction leading to something more, but for the moment, they're brought together by their mutual need to seek the devastation that war causes.

Another wonderful one-shot. I like your portrayal of all the characters. I can never quite imagine Ginny willingly becoming a mistress and her convictions are keenly apparent in this story. It's almost amusing to see how Draco does not understand where she's coming from. He's had such a different upbringing, that extra-marital relations seem the norm.

I hope that, for the childrens' sake at the least, something can be sorted out between Draco and Ginny.

Author's Response: I wouldn't say that Draco thinks extra-marital relationships are normal. He's very like Mr. Rochester in that he thinks he deserves someone better, someone that he actually loves, rather than being cursed with the wife he has. He has a hard time seeing what is wrong with seeking happiness, and he knows he would not be hurting Pansy by being with someone else because she cares about as much for him as he does for her. But Ginny is like Jane Eyre in that, even though she loves Draco, she won't give up on her morals like that. You're right that Draco doesn't understand her point of view, but that's mostly because he's lived a miserable, unhappy life for so long. And, because he was raised a spoiled rich kid, he thinks he can get what he wants.

This reply is waaaay late. I hope you forgive me. ^^;
