Draco Malfoy is the best sort of killer there is. Ginny Weasley can promise that.Category: Completed Short Stories
*sighs* What a wonderful ficlet.
I like the style of this short story. Having the short sentences regarding a killer, but relating it to what's happening between Draco and Ginny is very well done.
I can't put my finger on it, but there's something about this story that causes it to cross the 'good fic' line into definitely being a great fic. Maybe it's just the fact that the characters are well-rounded, even though we only meet them in short sections.
I love that "spectacular" comment. I burst out laughing when Draco confronted Ginny about it. It was hilarious seeing her pride at her comment turn into embarrassment.
I think I've got it now; it's the fact that you've managed to get humour, characterisation and a plot that binds this all together to make the story more than the sum of its parts.
I'll be looking forward to reading more of your work. :)
In a world where Death Eaters reign and good wizards hide in plain sight, preconceived notions must be redefined. AU for post-Hogwarts setting. WARNING: Allusion to H/Hr since I posted this at Portkey. Please don't bludgeon me; I almost did it myself.Category: Works in Progress
I certainly have no idea where she is or how she is, only that I’m sincerely hoping my father hasn’t thrown her to his friends for fun.
It was this line that made me realise how much darker this fic is from the usual Draco-hides-at-Grimmauld-Place fics. Poor Draco, the guilt at not saving his mother must be eating at himself.
I like how Ginny speaking up for Draco isn't yet due to her being enamoured of him, but that she is caring for a patient. It's good to have the relationship building slowly; it's much more realistic then.
Later he trailed her to the front door before she left, and she was convinced it was because he wanted to be sure there still was an outdoors, that there was still something normal out there.
I particularly liked this sentence, mostly because it alludes to Draco liking Ginny, but not in an overt fashion. The subtleties in your writing are enjoyable to read. :)
“He’s right,” Ron said slowly. “Thank you, Mum.”
Lol! That must've killed Ron; agreeing with Malfoy. Hehehe. It was rather sweet of Draco to thank Mrs. Weasley like that, though it wasn't quite altruistic.
Ooh. Their first kiss! :D It was rather original; Ginny's almost innocent thank-you kiss turning into something much more. *grins and rushes off to read the next chapter*
Her other arm was proprietarily thrown over his waist, limp fingers a little too close to his bits for comfort.
*snorts* Ah, what a refreshing change to have some of Malfoy's point of view. Lol.
Although I'm rather concerned that Ginny is far too naive.
It was hard to resist someone who had likely never asked permission in his life.
Heh, so /that's/ what she says to convince herself. Of course the reason she acquiested to the request /wasn't/ because Draco was the one that's asking. (:
I love the argument they had whilst at the market. There are many many stories with Draco and Ginny arguing, but rarely are they this realistic.
“She doesn’t mean anything by her attitude,” Molly soothed
Hehe, she's already welcoming a future son-in-law, though she doesn't know it yet. :D It was cute seeing Draco and Ginny interact through Molly's eyes.
Gritting his teeth, he wondered furiously if feet were supposed to be some sort of erogenous zone.
Lol! Draco's most certainly still in character, that's for sure. (Well, aside from the random cookie-baking, that is. )
Before taking his seat, Draco quirked an eyebrow at the furious professor and smirked.
Bloody hell. Draco does like to skate on thin ice, doesn't he?
That scene was unbelievably hot. I've got a feeling that there's going to be rather a lot of silencing rooms in the near future. *scampers off to read more*
I was half-wondering how long it would take for someone to notice their rendezvous on the stairs. Luckily it wasn't someone who Ginny couldn't blackmail into submission.
“I want you to know that for the first time in my life, you had a name and I had a name and it wasn’t just Weasley or Malfoy.”
Aw. Heartbreaking stuff.
No! It can't just end there! :(
Not when Molly's been kidnapped and Ginny has foolishly run into the fray without her wand, with Draco and Severus closely following. I really hope that there will be more of this fic. At the very least, the final chapter to end this humongous cliffie that you've bestowed upon us readers.
Fingers crossed for some more HM,HM soon!
Ginny enjoys an evening of peace with Draco, and reflects on what the world has become.Category: Completed Short Stories
Yes, I agree - warm fuzzies all the way. XD
It was lovely little monologue from Ginny. This is definitely going to be added to my favourites' list.
Ginny, now a Museum Assistant at the acclaimed Museum of Magic, supervises a party thrown by the Wizarding Elite. She meets Draco, by chance, when her family crest ring twists off and decides to play a little hide and seek...Category: Completed Short Stories
I *adore* this story. I can definitely identify with Ginny in her love of antiques and the stories they hold. My parents emigrated to the UK and I've always wanted to have a piece of my heritage, however small or insignificant. The idea of the signet ring was brilliant; it's a truly unique plot for a D/G fic and it worked so well with the characters.
I am sure that this story is one that I will enjoy coming back to and re-reading. Its upbeat, hopeful ending was lovely and the banter during Draco and Ginny's talk was very natural.
When Arthur Weasley is murdered, Ginny must work with the Unspeakable assigned to the murder investigation... only to find it's the last person she wants to talk to. Has Harry/Hermione and Ron/Pansy on the side.Category: Completed Short Stories
*Squeels* Awww! I love this story. It's wonderfully written. The healing that Ginny went through, slowly, gradually, with Draco's help, was a joy to read.
At the scene on the balcony I held my breath in anticipation until Draco finally kissed Ginny. I have got to say that that kiss is the most touching D/G kiss I've ever read. The sorrow that Ginny feels and Draco's empathy for her morphing into their mutual desire for one another.
Your writing flows very well through the story. The way that you change from narrative to direct speech is seamless and so I almost forget that there are many time jumps between the different sections. (e.g. how Ginny describing how her work life is progressing then changes into the balcony scene.)
Lovely realism in the characters. I loved every single part of this story; it's definitely being added to my favourites.
Author's Response: Wow, thank you *so* much for this wonderful review - your kind words mean a great deal to me. I\'m glad you enjoyed it and I thank you for taking the time to let me know.
On the stage is where she lets the world know, but they know and suspect nothing, only gazing in awe at the creature before them.Category: Completed Short Stories
I like that the story is open-ended. It opens the way for countless possibilities.
The way you expressed Ginny's emotions through dance was very well done. Almost enchanting. :) I look forward to reading more fics by you.
After the war, a moment of peace.Category: Completed Short Stories
Aww! Such a lovely fuzzy feeling of warmth and hope at the end, there. A great Christmas-time story. :)
Ginny waits not-so-patiently for the end of her Potions classCategory: Completed Short Stories
A cute ficlet. I like how you've made their mutual attraction believable, with Ginny reasoning to herself why she has grown to like Draco.
:)
A Vesica/Mynuet Collaboration. If Ginny had even the slightest inkling of what the day would bring, she probably would have called in sick. A disastrous press conference proved to be no match for the spin doctoring talents of Lush's chief and Ginny finds herself catapulted from being a lowly intern to the very eye of the storm, living a double life as a careerwitch and glamorous front woman for a racy new line. Throw in a few A-list events, a few dozen crises, an endless promotional tour with her new co-worker and the last person she wanted to spend time with, and a mystery waiting back home that neither of them may be able to solve….Every day's an adventure when you're living the Lush Life!Category: Works in Progress
I *adore* reading this fic. I have lost count the number of times I have re-read it; mostly just the last chapter in hopes that number 14 will be up soon, but sometimes, such as now, all 13 of them.
The Draco/Ginny banter is very entertaining and the underlying plot draws the reader in, eager to find out more about Draco's interest in Ginny.
I hope that there will be more posted up soon!
Author's Response: Ves and Myn say: Sorry for the wait but thanks for reading and reviewing!
War never leaves anyone unchanged.Category: Long and Completed
Wonderful. I know that I've read this story once before, but coming across it again, I just had to re-read it. I remembered it having a lovely progression of Draco and Ginny's relationship from friendship into something more. Just finished a whole 16 chapter run. It was very enjoyable; the banter, the bickering, all of the little things that make a D/G fic to be captivating. I love how you have wonderful endings for each chapter. Either thoughtful or just downright hilarious, they have never failed to make me want to read more and that's why I'm writing this review at a very unreasonable time of the morning - I just couldn't bring myself to stop reading.
I always know I've found a good fic when I read things that I think aren't really plausible but think "Oh well, the story's so good that I can't bring myself to care about that little point." And that's what has happened here; although I doubt anyone would be given a professorship at Hogwarts when 17, I can't bring myself to care. Draco and Ginny are just so cute together! :D
Anyway, I'm very glad to have stumbled across this fic again and thank you for your wonderful story. Hope you have a happy New Year!
Ginny runs. Draco watches. Mild fluff ensues.Category: Works in Progress
This is a great chapter. I like the ending line. It brings the chapter to a close in a satisfying way.
I like Draco's reaction to Ginny's bad back - I guess that someone who hasn't seen the close sibling relationships wouldn't see why Ginny so easily brushes off the rough-and-tumble accidents. It's this insight into Draco's background that makes this stand out from the many other 'Draco doesn't want to be a Death Eather', Hogwarts-era fics.
This chapter was even more interesting than the last, I think. I liked the realism in the argument between Draco, Ginny and Harry. The taunts were very much in-character, especially for their ages. *rolls eyes at immature teenage boys* Hehe, but really, it was good.
I liked the part at the end, when Ginny comes after Draco. It's interesting that Ginny didn't take Draco's hand. I wonder if she would have if he had confirmed being friends? Hmm, I suppose we can only wonder..
I hope that you'll update soon!
Ginny has the life that every woman is supposed to want. She has a wonderful husband, three beautiful children, and the home of her dreams…but when she’s given the chance to change that life, to go down the more dangerous path, will she?Category: Works in Progress
This is brilliant. Just brilliant. It is quite scary how closely this parallels the Epilogue of Doom, as I am at wont to call it. Though at least your Ginny seemed to be able to put her foot down on the names front.
Ginny's thoughts on her marriage and life are so very real. The fact that she feels trapped in her marriage is all the more intensified by the fact that she could have had another life.
I like the dynamic between the two. :)
Draco sees Ginny, Draco wants Ginny, Ginny wants Draco too.Category: Completed Short Stories
Heh. Nice ending.
It was refreshing to see Draco being rather insecure in the nightclub scene and to have Ginny being the more forward one. It's quite rare to see it being this way round.
A fun read. :)
"Can't you see? We're the only constants in each other's lives any more. We don't have anything else to hold onto." When Ginny and Draco both betray their causes, and the war threatens to doom them both... one-shot.Category: Completed Short Stories
Ah, that was lovely. I was dreading an angsty ending, especially after seeing the categories this story is in, so it was very relieving to read a positive end. There is a touch of sorrow for Ginny having to leave her family behind, but that's overshadowed very well by the dynamic between her and Draco. I love how you can portray both their characters so well in such a short story.
Aw, what a lovely hopeful ending line. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :D
I love reading your one-shots. They seem to capture the very essence of the characters in that little window of time. I'm not sure how you can manage to write so concisely, with so much going on in so few words, but it all fits together so well, with the final words sealing Ginny and Draco's fate as a couple, newly free of their remaining ties.
Draco and Ginny are living in the same house in the war.Category: Completed Short Stories
I remember reading this story before, ages ago; only by the second section did I realise it. It's a very well written piece, one that I enjoyed reading. I particularly like how you use short sentences to sum up the feeling of the moment. Two that I particularly liked are:
His silence was telling, and his silence told.
His heart was in his mouth, and she was kissing it away.
They're just brilliant. :)
Hope you have a great New Year!
