Contractual Obligations by gidge_8    (Reviews - 751)

Selling herself into a marriage contract, Ginny finds herself playing a deadly game, ultimately pitting her husband against her lover and a father against his son. Many twists and turns, depth and evil characters - and a long story of sweet and true love.

New! Epilogue is up! Yes, I know, the story has been "complete" for a couple of years, but this ending has been partially written for a long time and it ties up some loose ends.

This was another great chapter. I soooo want Lucius to die a painful death. I really like how you were able to portray the depths of there emotions; from their attraction and passion for each other, to their confusion about how they feel about what's happening. I know you will be able to work everything out with the story-good things come to those who wait.

Author's Response: Thanks Hon!!! And it will be very, very good things. :)
Hugs!

It is always a good day (or night) when I open Fire and Ice and see your story. I must admit I was starting to have anxiety attacks b/c I hadn't had my 'fix' of this ohmygosh-what word can I use to describe how much I love this- story. Has Draco decided to join back up with the 'Dark Lord' for Ginny?? From what he's shown in the story so far, she's the only reason he would. And that's the only thing that would have that Lucius (may he die soon) Malfoy act civil towards his son. I'm glad Ginny has decided to have some happiness for herself. Of course Draco with no shirt could make anybody-or at least me-happy. Thank you many, many times over for the update.

Author's Response: I really wanted to wait to make sure that I was going in the right direction. If I rush to put out a chapter, it really comes out rather choppy, so it's best that I take my time. The next chapter will be going to beta in a couple of days, hopefully. And I do love the shirtless scenes also. *grin* :)
Thanks! and have a wonderful day!

Poor Ginny, things are not seeming to get better for her. She has her love for Draco (and I'm sure he loves her) but he's having to keep his distance and now the her respite, the time she could spend with him, is minimal. She's alone and Lucius finding her a companion is probably not going to help. And what is up with Lucius? I was a little disturbed by his 'kind' treatment of Ginny(I still want him to die a slow PAINFUL death); like Ginny said-he wasn't concerned when he left her on the floor semi-conscious, does he think she cares for him. This was a really good chapter and I can't begin to write all the questions it left me with. What's going on with Draco? is the potion Lucius mentioned for families like the Weasleys? what measures will Lucius dish out to 'correct' her behavior? Me having so many questions is a good and bad thing. Bad for me because now I'm pins waiting for more and good for you 'cause it shows your talent. I can't wait for the next update.

Author's Response: I think that's why these last few chapters took so long. There was a lot to weave together, while still keeping the plot moving forward. Things start unraveling soon, so, you'll start getting answers, and I think the chapters will be coming out much faster. Most are already written, but are just in need of refinement.

:O That's me trying to breathe because I stopped breathing when Lucius said "Unless, of course, he's already returned". At first I though maybe Bella told him; but when I read it a second time I wondered because she was joking with Draco like she knew about D&G and was okay with it in a sick, twisted way only her mind can comprehend.

I'm really terrified for Draco and Ginny right now. Lucius could see that their lovemaking was "beautiful" and knows it wasn't just sex. He also knows it wasn't just a 'one-time' thing because he said "you've been training her well". If he hadn't seen them together Draco might have been able to convince him it meant nothing and he was "using her for my own ends". But Lucius could see that Draco wanted to protect Ginny and vice versa. I wanted Lucius to drop dead when he told Draco what he would do if Ginny was pregnant with his child. And who knows (besides you) what horror Lucius will now inflict upon Ginny. And now she won't even have Draco to keep he "sane".

I was wondering what Lucius meant when he said he "was hoping today had offered an adequate lesson regarding the consequences of one's actions"; was he talking about Teddy and Tonks? Did he want Tonks killed? or did he bring Teddy there to show Ginny that they [Death Eaters] could do what they wanted? Excellent story. I can't wait for the next update.

Author's Response: I love that you are looking at the story with such depth. I think you will appreciate what's to come, as many little details will tie in eventually. so, breathe... I'm working on that next chappie. :) Thanks so much for reading!!! -G

Excellent chapter, I was so happy to see you had updated!! Bella is crazy as hell, I can't figure out what she's thinking at all. As 'Slytherin' as the Slytherins can be; no one tops Bella in that area. She's making this story very interesting (and a little confusing).

I like the depth you've given Lucius with him apparently being disappointed and hurt. Draco said he 'loved' Narcissa at one time, maybe he had started to feel more than ownership for Ginny.

I'm glad Draco came back for Ginny, but I'm afraid of what might happen if Lucius finds out and what Bella's plans are for him. I can't wait for the next update.

Author's Response: Funny... but my original outline had no Bella in it at all. She's crazy and very smart. I think she wrote herself in. LOL

Ahhhhhhhh!!! Yes! Yes! Yes! I knew the guy from the pub was Draco; okay I didn't know for sure but I was hoping it would be and I'm so glad you didn't disappoint. I love reading what happened their first night together from Draco/Derek's point of view. *sigh*
He began falling in love with her that very first night. I am looking forward to seeing what Draco/Derek is going to do to 'rescue' his Ginny and their baby.

I Love This Story, thank you for the update.

Have fun in NY; hope you get to see Tom and he provides lots and lots of great inspiration for this story.

Author's Response: Thanks so much. It sounds like you get the story the way I feel when I'm writing it. Yes, Draco's got a plan and I can't wait to post it, but I have to get past chap 18 first.
Thanks again for your lovely feedback. It inspires me so much. :)

A wonderful story. I love how you convey
such believable emotions. I can almost feel Arthur and Molly's righteous anger, concern and confusion over Draco and Ginny's situation; Remus' remorse that he didn't listen to Draco.

I love this story.

Author's Response: Gosh thanks so much. Sorry I havent responded sooner. The emotions really are important to me and I really try to get them right. Greatly appreciate the feedback.

Oh this was so great, but have you been told you're kind of evil?? To have the final(or is it?) battle and not have Lucius there!?!? Now I have to wait to see what that crazy b$stard is going to do. Because Ginny is not really safe as long as he's walking around. He was pissed at Draco because of Ginny and I'm sure he won't be happy to hear the part he played in Voldy's fall. Plus it seems he had started to develop some sort of feelings for Ginny and the only reason he didn't really take revenge, his favorite dish, is because of the baby.

I'm always scared to read this story, because though I'm in love and can't wait for the updates, I'm always fearful of the angst part of the story.
I'm hoping all the important people came
from the battle okay. And Ginny and Draco can raise their son in a Voldemort
free world.

P.S. With no updates I reread -Die, with a "T". I love this story and am looking forward to more. (Pretty please)

Author's Response: *gives evil laugh* and attempting not to give anything away. Cool stuff coming. Thanks so much, and yes, I did get some work done on "Die-t" - had a bit of a road block but think I figured out how to deal with it and was working on it today.

I loved this chapter. I'm so glad Ginny is home. Her looking around her house was very sweet. I liked the part about Draco being so proud to cook her breakfast :) I felt bad for Draco, because everybody was around he couldn't really express all of his emotions about Ginny being home, about Barnabas being dead and having to deal with crazy Bella. Oh and I can't stand Hermione, isn't it time for her to run off to solve some mystery or something.

Author's Response: I can't stand Hermione either. She's always such a busybody but she's here for the moment. I promise not to keep her around more than necessary. LOL :D

Reviewer: Dracogirl Signed
Date: Mar 28, 2010 Title: Chapter 25: Chapter 25 - A New Era Begins

I really, really liked this chapter but I'm almost sick from the roller coaster of emotions I went through in this chapter.

I so liked the start of this chapter I was happy and a smile came to my face - 'Despite all that she'd been through in the past year, there was a feeling of innocence between them now that she was living with her parents again. His arrival each evening held a feeling of courtship about it.' I thought the part about the 'innocence' was so sweet after all the hell and pain she had been through.

Then I was pissed, not angry, but PISSED! - 'Lucius Malfoy won't be put on trial. He's managed to buy his way out.' OHMYGOD!! Let me kill him PLEASSSSE! Make me a witch named Chelsea (a name I saw watching TV) and I could kill him because of something he did to me in the past. I knew you were evil when he wasn't at the party; somebody could have killed his ass then and Draco and Ginny would have been happy. Now since Lucius isn't dead and not in Azkaban getting the kiss, I still have to fear for Draco and Ginny.

Then I was happy again - 'We could be married as Muggles, live right nearby, and our son would be part of a family.' I'm guessing 'the look of shock on Hermione's face' and 'the look of hurt on Harry's' was because they caught on to the part where Draco said 'our son'. Since they both are getting on my nerve, I have no sympathy for them-sorry.

This is such a wonderful story. Thank you for letting it last a little bit longer.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for such a thoughtful review. Yes, this entire fic is somewhat of a rollercoaster. At times I had difficulty writing because it was so intense. I'm so eager to finish this, if only my schedule allowed for a little more time to work on it. Thank you again!
Hugs!

I'm not sure I can write a review that can do this chapter justice. It was...PERFECT!

I loved reading about Derek and Jenny's life together, especially the arrival of Alexander. Poor Jenny/Ginny having to deal with her fear of being married, especially after the 'marriage from hell' she had to endure. I could feel her apprehension and fear. Draco was so sweet with her. When Draco had his hand on her stomach and little Alex moved. Ahhhhh...I loved it.

It was so funny reading about Jenny's trials with the "machine thing". And then Draco explaining how he came up with his name; that was one of my favorite parts of the chapter.

I'm hoping The Hanson's returning to the magical world will be great. I'm soooooo afraid about how you ended this with Jenny being 'happier than she'd ever imagined'. I'm scared something is going to happen to spoil it (maybe because of the pictures Fred took). And since Lucius isn't dead (hopefully he will be soon) he can come in to ruin everything. I anxiously await more.

Author's Response: It does leave with a sense of foreboding, doesn't it? *evil grin* I'm blushing over your kind words. I'd hardly say "perfect" is a word to use with any of my work, since I know I still need a lot of work as a writer. I did spend a lot of extra time on this chapter, and I've had two incredible people do beta work on it. It had a lot of "soak" time, so I could really make sure I caught all the details properly. As the end nears, I'm feeling an urge to rush, and I don't want the end of the story to feel sloppy or hurried.

Again, you are wonderful to be so consistent with feedback. I truly do love hearing from you every chapter.

Hugs!

The fallout of a magical clandestine war is difficult to wade through, and reconstructing society takes work to be done right. Unfortunately, too many old prejudices remain. Ginny sees the world for what it is and is determined to fix it properly. This leads to all sorts of unlikely allies.

I just started reading this story and it's fantastic. The plot is interesting, the characterizions and interactions are soooo good and the sex is hot!!! I haven't reviewed about the story yet but really would if somebody would take away that old goats Viagra (do they have that in England?). I know Pansy agreed to the marriage, but ewwwww.

Author's Response: *snickers* Yeah. Chesterfield really doesn't have any redeeming qualities, does he? I'm sure there are potion equivalents of Viagra, but I really don't want to contemplate that. ;) Pansy at least now has something happy going on in her life, tho.

This was another great chapter, even though there wasn't much Draco. I'm glad Pansy has Blaise to help her deal with her marriage. I'm sure he's even better than pain medication :)

Author's Response: Well, with a lot of characters that I introduced in the fic, it's hard to give everyone a lot of face time. Draco shows up in the next chapter. :)

What a wonderful story. I'm so happy it had a happy ending. I hate that it ended so soon. The plot and characters were so great, it could have lasted a while longer. Maybe there will be an epilogue?!?!

Author's Response: lol. I was following the outline of the original drabble, so I didn't come up with any ideas for what happens next. We'll see if Real Life allows for that.

I feel so bad for Ginny and Draco. I'm glad Ginny has decided to stop being depressed and help Draco remember her. Did that spell Lucius used make it so if Draco saw Ginny it would cause the headache and despair or is that his memories trying to break through? Thanks for the quick update, can't wait to read more.

Author's Response:

LOL, the headache and despair idea is pretty good, and it would be just like Lucius, too! Hehehe. He intended for Draco's memories of Ginny to be erased, and the effect is that the last five years of his life disappeared from his mind. The reason for Draco's headaches will be explained in futher chapters, but I'd say you're on to something! ;) Thanks for reviewing. ^_^

Author's Response: Hey, thanks for your wonderful compliment! I'm glad you can forgive Draco! ;) I can too, I mean, I do love him,but I hate how crass he's being about sex in this chapter! I'm glad you liked the D and G interaction. And yes, Draco has enough self-esteem to give around! LOL

This chapter was fantastic. There were so many things about it I liked. The kiss was probably my favorite of course:D Then there was the feel of this chapter-it was a 'feel good' chapter; you know something I would love to read over and over again. Ginny in the boxers, the D/G interaction, and her flashback to her asking Draco "Why am I still a virgin?"-priceless.

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm very glad that you liked it! :D
It really was a "happy" sort of chapter, and even THEN it was bittersweet! I have a gift, it seems, LOL. *shakes head*. Thanks for giving me a detailed review! I love to hear what parts you liked most! ^_^

This chapter was so great. It takes me a while to read your updates because I have to go back a couple of chapters and reread them. Not because I've forgotten anything, but because it's so good I want to enjoy it again.

That said this chapter was bitter sweet indeed because I know it's almost over. It was funny-gotta love jealous Draco. It was sweet-Draco finally admitting he loved Ginny and learning she loved him too. Oh my goodness so sad=the tears for what they've lost and what he can't even remember they had. And it was hot. Darn (that's not the D word I'm thinking) this was a great chapter :D

Author's Response:

Thanks so much for your awesome review! :D

I'm very flattered to hear that you reread parts of this just because you want to enjoy them again! That's a very big compliment to me. ^_^

I know what you mean about jealous Draco! :D And I'm glad you liked the naughtiness in this one! It was fun to write! >:D
