If Your Hands Were In Mine by Anise    (Reviews - 21)

Ginny hasn’t seen Draco since the last time they met in a moonlit corridor after the last battle at Hogwarts. So why is he following her around the Ministry of Magic five years later, desperately trying to warn her about unseen dangers? And why does she still feel that same old disturbing attraction to him?

Chapter FOUR quote of the day:

“Get out of here, Malfoy,” she hissed at him.

He shook his head.

“I’m working on my public art project. Out.

“No,” he said, not moving a muscle.

“Fine,” she sighed, walking over to him. “Why don’t you just tell me what you want, then? Let’s get this over with.”

Of course I love everything you write, and this is no exception. Ginny frothing at the mouth with irrational anger is nothing short of amusing. Hehe.

I also loooove your Blaise. He's such a manwhore and willing to pitch for both teams.

I really suspect that she’s got more than two brain cells to rub together. Quite unlike my usual conquests.

Heheh! Now, see, that's all he needs to tell Luna and she'll be putty in his hands. ;P

And now I'm really curious about what Draco does in the DoM and why he seems to be 'stalking' Ginny at the lift.

Oh, one little thing... I think you're missing a break for after “Nobody knows, really,” said Luna. “That’s why it’s the Department of Mysteries.” cause it just sort of bleeds together into the next scene.

And now I'm onto the next chapter! Yay! :D

Author's Response: Incognito! YAY! (great big hug) So happy happy happy to see you back! I'm sure there ARE paragraph problems here, believe me-- it was adapted from the original 2010 Exchange fic. But it's got a few differences, as you will see soon....

I love how your stories hold such mystery and intrigue. I never quite know what's going on, but it's a good thing. I have a feeling that Draco saw Ginny's death in some artefact located in the DoM and he wants to stop it but he can't. It's all very sad, if I'm remotely accurate.

And I also enjoy the splices of humour throughout, a sort of morbid black humour, which I also appreciate. Juxtaposed against the intrigue of the plot, I am thoroughly entertain and want to know more.

I think the highest compliment I can give your writing right now is that you inspire me to write more. I want to get back into DG again and write more. And no matter how long I've been away from DG, your stories always bring me back to my ultimate OTP. :)

Author's Response: Thanks! :) One of the changes from the 2010 version is that I'm adding more seriousness to this fic in some ways (but don't give up hope for a happy ending!!) I love, LOVE when authors say they're feeling more inspired. I've actually been thinking of doing a ginormous project where I would track down authors who haven't updated in the past year and write to encourage them to continue, and YOU are very very much on the list!! I'm also doing a lot of work behind the scenes to create new opportunities for us. Believe me, you definitely want to stick around and write D/G. I tried to write original fic while leaving it behind, and it absolutely did not work. It's all coming up in the essay... if the Computer Expert can recover the files on the lost disk... but it'll go up even if I have to recreate the whole thing from old notes! Anyway, more soon. :)

And the mystery builds.

I have to say that I like the surprisingly gentle Draco in this. Can you wrap one up and deliver one for me?

I really enjoyed your description of Ginny's relationships, particularly her one with Harry and with Dean. I always thought it was quite cruel of her to date Dean to make Harry jealous and I'm glad as she's older she's finally realised this.

The smut scene was nicely done. Not drawn out and not too explicit. Just the right amount of visual for this sort of mystery fic. Nicely done. ;)

Author's Response: Thanks! :) Okay, let's see... I'm working on all these prizes for the exchange, so I'm SURE I can come up with surprisingly gentle!Draco (gets right to work in the stem cell lab.) They're laughing now, but within 10 years, I think we'll be able to do it. ;) (Who are "they"? Um... maybe it's better not to ask. :P) Anyway. I've always had a soft spot for Dean, and if Draco died a horrible tragic death while in the middle of an uncharacteristically noble action, I could really see Ginny ending up with him. And thanks for the smut scene praise! I wasn't sure about that one.

D'awww! Now I really want my own Draco. I just loved how you wrote him in this. The scene where she puts his hand on top of his:

Very slowly and deliberately, she reached forward and laid her hand along the back of Draco’s fingers. After a minute’s hesitation, during which he didn’t move a muscle, she could feel her cheeks start to burn in embarrassment, and she wanted to sink through the floor and disappear because she was sure she’d misjudged what he wanted now, he opened his palm wide and curved her hand in his, clasping it. They sat like that, silently, for a long time.

*melted* Yes, it's these little descriptions that get to me and that made this such an enjoyable read. :)

Author's Response: Thanks! :) (Still working on that own!Draco project. We should be getting breakthrough drug status from the FDA any day now.)

Ah, this is just brilliant! I do love it when a convincing Draco-Ron friendship is presented. Too often Ron is made a horribly villain, so I'm really glad that you're changing his personality around for the better. Who would have thought that they'd be such a great influence on one another?

Is it weird that I'm more excited for the bromance than the DG romance?

Author's Response: Thank you! I think Ron is one of the least developed characters in canon, and his role in fanfic tends to be a little flat as a result. I like exploring the brother-sister relationship and I enjoy twisting the typical plot lines around. :) And, yes, I'm kind of enjoying the bromance too - I think you'll love chap 3. Thank you again!

I can't tell you how much I love this fic. Your portrayal of Ron is brilliant. His maturity is believable and, honestly, I'm glad. He got the least development out of the trio, and that's saying a lot since none of them really developed much.

Draco's teasing of Ginny is cute, imho. He obviously likes her. Maybe not romantically (yet), but his behaviour is a hybrid of Malfoy and Weasley (twins) and it makes me smile.

I knew Ginny's ego would get knocked down a peg or two. Like she was going to beat that team, even with Charlie.

Can't wait for the next chapter. :)

Author's Response: Oh yay! Totally agree that Ron was so two dimensional in canon that I couldn't stand him, but when I started exploring the sibling relationship in a couple of my other fics, I saw some potential to give him some depth. He needs to get away from the trio - they stifle him. Draco - well - I think he's finally feeling free, possibly more free than he's been in his entire life, because he's been isolated from almost every bad influence he's ever had. The brothers are having fun with helping him bust on Ginny a bit, since she's been such a pill. I'm so glad you like it all. I've had a blast with these variations on the characters, so glad that it came through to you. :)
Best Wishes!

Ah, this was such a great chapter. I'll say it again, but I love how you write Ron. I want him for a best mate! And I also like how you humanised the Greengrasses, making Daphne and Astoria girls Ginny could actually hang out with.

The drunken confession and sloppy kiss had me both laughing and melting. I really can't wait for their relationship to develop. Obviously Draco likes her. ;)

Author's Response: Oh Draco definitely has a crush on her. And I loved getting him drunk! Poor Ginny doesn't know what to make of him after that. :) Glad you liked the Greengrass sisters too. Daphne kind of wrote herself and, unfortunately, Astoria is a bit in the background because she's a little shy, but she's a much better fit for our Ron than Hermione could ever be, IMHO. So glad you enjoyed, and thanks so much for the feedback!
Best wishes!!!

I know this is a DG fic and I love it, but I have to say that the RonxDraco friendship just grabs me each and every chapter, even when they're not together in it. I dunno. I just love them as BFFs. And you make it so believable.

DG UST! Gotta love it. Gotta love the kiss, too. Knew Ginny would back away. Can't wait to see where their relationship goes from here. :D

Author's Response: Awesome! I was so curious about how the folks would like the friendship. It just came so easily, that I was almost worried about the lack of conflict, since that's such a standard in D/G fics. Yeah, Ginny's a bit confused and she's fighting the truth. LOL Thanks so much!

This was really sweet and awkward. Awkward as in the situation Draco and Ginny are in now, not your writing, which is beautiful. How you play up their nervous apprehension is brilliant.

"You know, here's where you'd insert a jab about Gryffindor courage, defuse the situation and all that."

"It's...understandably a bit hard to find humor in said situation."

She nodded glumly.

"I could also make a dig at the Weasley fertility, except it'd also be at my expense."

Lol! This was my absolute favourite exchange.

What I do really enjoy about this fic is that both of them are so reasonable. They've really matured and it shows, yet the personalities that we know and love still remain intact and recognisable. :)

You did a great with the prompt, darlin'.

Author's Response: Thanks, Lia! The bit you quoted was one of my favorite bits as well. I was definitely trying to go for a more mature interaction between them for this prompt so I'm glad to hear that that showed through.

Hahaha! This was friggin' hilarious! I was deeply entertained. I especially loved your characterisation of Draco. A little bit arrogant, a little bit coward. Perfect. And my was that quite the daydream. It got rather hot there. *fans self* Great job, Jessica! :)

Author's Response: Arrogant and cowardly are exactly what I was going for! So glad you enjoyed it. Thanks, Lia! n_n

Of Sun Breaks and Salacious Delights by Anise    (Reviews - 145)

+++

Ginny fled the wizarding world when betrayal, deception, and heartbreak tore apart her life. A year later, she lives and works as a Muggle-- and the co-owner of Athena's Saucy Shoppe of Salacious Delights. But she's about to learn that it isn't so easy to leave the past behind... especially when it comes packaged in the person of Draco Malfoy.

Chapter TWENTY Quote of the Day:

Ginny tried again, deciding that it was time for her glowering blond companion to help her out whether he wanted to not.

“It’s so great to catch up with old friends, Draco. Don’t you think?” She jabbed Draco lightly in the ribs under cover of darkness.

Draco clamped his hand around her waist like a band of iron. Oh, no, Ginny thought despairingly. This was not going well.

"She's mine alone,” said Draco.

"But she's got other customers, right?" asked Theo.

"She is not to be shared,” said Draco. “I… ah… don't share my toys. You ought to remember that, Nott.”

"But if she's no more than a toy, then it shouldn't matter." Nott's expression was turning crafty. Suddenly, Ginny had a very, very bad feeling about what might happen next.

“Seems as if you shouldn’t mind sharing Ginny with me, don’t you think, Malfoy? After all we’ve been through together? You know what I mean, don’t you?”

Hahaha! The opening was brilliant! I was giggling like a school girl throughout.

I was so hoping you would choose this prompt and you have done more than justice to it. The details of the toys were impressive and amusing. Hehe. I have to say, though, I really enjoyed the intrigue you added. And that Theo is in this! He's an underused character and it's nice to see him being used slightly villainous. That's ever rarer.

I can't wait to see where you take this. I hope there's more sex shop exploits to come. ;D

Author's Response: Thanks! :) I don't think it actually started with intrigue... but then Theo showed up, he insisted on being the villain, and I learned a lot of the backstory of what happened to Draco and Ginny the year before. Also-- (knock on door) Just a minute... The van from The Happy Valley Asylum for the Slightly Insane is here again, and my name's on the list of pickups for today, for some reason. Time to go! But more is coming soon.

Zee plot thickens! ;) I love how Ginny just rolls with the punches. Saucy girl. Nicely inserted backstory, although I'm *really* curious about Theo and this revenge Draco and Ginny seek. You are the Queen of Mystery! *shakes fist* Excellent writing, as usual. :)

Author's Response: Thanks! Yes, there's an interesting backstory about exactly what happened with Theo, Draco and Ginny (Harry, Millicent, Luna, and Pansy also being involved more indirectly. Even when we learn more, all will not be exactly as it may at first seem. But answers are on their way... and, um... I don't know if you would have predicted what you were exactly getting us all in for with that prompt. But let's just say that there will be more soon. :)

HAHAHA! Omg, I LOVED this chapter! Millicent and Pansy are hilarious and, quite frankly, I've fallen in love with them. At some point you should write a little drabble about those two. They crack me up.

I understand now why you couldn't post snippets about this chapter on FB. Heheh. And if this is the least explicit chapter, we're in for a treat. A naughty treat. ;P

Great writing as usual. You always know you have a gem on your hands when you're just as interested reading the 'fillers' as you are the main couple romance. Seriously, I'm in love with Millie and Pansy, and Luna. Can't wait for the next chapter. :D

Author's Response: Thanks! :) Well, you know... none of it would have been possible without that prompt. ;) I really love Milla and Pansy here too. And the next chapter will be up by Sunday! :)

I'm finally getting around to reading and reviewing this, which is odd because this page is always up on one of my laptops.

I warn you in advance that my review might be rubbish because I've been drinking wine. Yes, wine. Pinot noir. Nummy. But I digress...

Nott is one scheming bastard. Nott was always one of my favourite Slytherins. Dunno why. We never really saw him, but apparently Draco respected him enough, which was a feat in itself. But this Theo, wow. He's an arse. And I still want to know what this big secret is, the big *that*! C'mon! *shakes you* Tell me already! ;P

I'm really enjoying the dialogue in this. You do make sure that every character has his/her quirk. Their individual personalities shine right through. I especially love Draco's pointing out his foibles (not knowing something and using Muggle terms) before Ginny could. Like she even has the time to banter. Lol.

Now I can't wait to see this little charade of theirs played out. I do hope we see a glimpse in the next chapter, which I'm about to read now. :D

Author's Response: Thanks! :) yes, I get that way after eating chocolate... but don't worry, it's a great review. :) I don't know what it was about Theo in this fic... he just leaped out at me as the scheming villain. There's that lost chapter involving Draco and Nott that JKR once talked about in an interview, and maybe that's what we pick up on when it comes to that character. There does seem to be more to him than what was shown in canon. I can't wait to read your review of the next chapter! (Well, I guess I can, because it's posted... but you know what I mean.)

I know this is supposed to be a sexy chapter - and it is - but I just found something so endearing about their dialogue, and Draco's mannerisms in general. He won brownie points with me. Although I am very curious how this plan will get revenge against Theo. I still need to know what they need revenge for, although I'm certain it has to do with Theo outing them as a couple. Perhaps Ginny was cheating on Harry with Draco? Dun, dun, dun! Okay, I'll stop rambling now and move onto the next chapter. :D

Author's Response: (snickers) The answers will be revealed eventually... but maybe not quite that soon.

Oh, Ginny, put the damn thing on! You won't fool anyone showing the thing in your purse. Sheesh! I love how before when she was doing the tour she was super confident. Doing it for Draco she's a teenage girl again. Love does that to you. Or perhaps not love in this case. Infatuation? Lust? I can't wait for the next chapter. :)

Author's Response: Hmmm... (peers into crystal ball) I foresee more scenes involving that butterfly. All in good time, my pretties, all in good time. And the next chapter is coming soon... it's almost done! :)
