Non-connected drabbles from varied D/G prompts, which aren't long enough to post separately.Category: Completed Short Stories
'I've got my sight set on that one.'
"'The inventor's daughter?'
'She's the one. The lucky girl I'm going to marry.'
'But she's - '
'The most beautiful girl in town. That makes her the best. And don't I deserve the best?'"
Gaston and Lefou, from Disney's Beauty and the Beast. This drabble reminded me very much of this scene. Very cute! I admire how you manage to hint at a history between the two of them in such a short time.
It's hard to learn how to live without that one person you thought would be in your life forever. But Ginny Weasley had always been a quick study, and there are always certain grey-eyed boys to help speed up the learning process...Category: Works in Progress
I love love love this story. I think I may have reviewed before and said that, but even if I have, it deserves saying again. Ginny's bit-by-bit way of pulling herself out of the Harry thing is just perfect, and I love your Draco.
One detail that bothers me though: Newt Scamander, if you go by what JKR has said after publishing DH, is the grandfather of Rolf Scamander, Luna's future husband. Thus every time you say "Newt", I think "old man".
The idea of "renting" her soul out to anyone - let alone a former Slytherin nemesis - did not sit well with Ginny Weasley. But circumstances always tend to go askew and when she finds herself in a dire position, Ginny has no choice but to relent, accepting the deal and the seven wishes offered as payment.Category: Long and Completed
I LOVE the variation on JKR's world that you've created here. Though I can't quite figure out why Draco offered seven wishes in exchange for Ginny's soul, I'm sure the reasoning will come clear in future chapters. Draco's desire to have Ginny wish things for herself fits perfectly with his 'me first' world view, and Ginny's stalling with wishes for other people makes a lot of sense because she doesn't seem like she knows what she wants!
I love how you're building up a relationship and attraction between the two of them so slowly and subtly, especially in the flashback. This is one of my favourite lines:
"She looked good, more refined and delicate, yet somehow she appeared stronger than before. It was a paradox, but then, so was she, and he assumed it was all right. The auburn however looked better than the singed orange she carried back in school, but, oh, it all didn’t seem to matter in the least because she was stealing his muffin!"
The last bit where Draco gets distracted from his contemplations by his original goal (the muffin!) is just perfect.
Another thing I love: your portrayal of Ron and Hermione. Their relationship was my path into the HP fandom and way too many D/G stories either have H/H and/or make Ron into an evil, incompetent oaf. I hope to see more of your lovable Ron in future chapters! Hermione's characterization in this chapter is wonderful. I like how yelling is her response to someone else figuring out an answer, and how she is 'prissy' in describing what happened after the unicorn milk, and her tragic yearning for a child, though I don't understand what she has against adoption.
I can't wait to see how you build D/G's relationship in future chapters, and I hope to see more R/H too! :)
With great actions come great self-revelations.Category: Completed Short Stories
Normally I try to avoid things that comply with the Epilogue of Doom, but this story totally sucked me in. I loved the part about Ginny finding Tonks (though I hated it at the same time - it's so tragic) and how she takes the whole thing in stride and thinks only of the good things. I'm glad you chose to end with Ginny not bothering to tell Harry or Ron about what she knows about Draco.... or perhaps she's given up trying?... but at the point of the epilogue, it's enough just for her to know. Beautiful writing. :)
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm glad I could get you around the Epilogue of Doom hatred for a few minutes- I think there's good opportunity even with the EoD to still write believable D/G. As for Ginny, I choose to believe that she honored Draco's wishes and never said a word about his actions to anyone. She took his advice and went on to become everything she was supposed to. Maybe there's a ficlet somewhere down the line about her and Draco revisiting the incident later in life. Who knows? :)
Draco and Ginny are pretty bad at faking it.Category: Completed Short Stories
Written for the 2011 D/G Fic Exchange. Winner of Snarkiest Conversation and Mod's Choice (thank you, Seegrim!).
I've been out of the fandom for a while and don't usually read new(ish) fics, but I love, love LOVE this one. Their interactions and snarkiness are adorable, and I love how the whole things comes full circle. Your writing style is completely effortless and lighthearted. All in all, great work!
